I'll stay awake, 'cause the dark's not taking prisoners tonight.

You were an agent, and a highly skilled one.

A assassin along with Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff.

So why were you scared of the dark?

Tugging the blanket closer to your body, if that was possible, you found yourself wide awake at three am.

You knew things could lurk in the dark.

Throwing off the blanket, you switched on your phone's flashlight and peeked out the room door. Nobody seemed awake, you sighed in defeat and stepped out the room, turning on each light in the hallway.

"Milk, milk, milk." You whispered, opening the jug of milk and pouring some in a cup. Shuffling through the halls again, you found Natasha stepping out her room.

"Y/N." She said, you turned off the flashlight. "Can't sleep?" You nodded, better to lie than to tell the truth.

"Yeah, I'm just not sleepy." You lied through your teeth, gosh, you could pass out right now.

"Wanna come in? I'm bored, probably gonna watch a movie." You shrugged and walked in, see some dull thriller movie starting.

For some reason sitting next to Natasha, the dark didn't seem so threatening. Snuggling into her bed, and pulling the soft blanket up, you found yourself snoozing off.

And it continued for a week. Natasha would complain of her lack of tiredness and you'll lie, just to join her. Then two minutes into the movie, you'll pass out.

And each week you slowly get more comfortable. Either by tossing a leg over hers or snuffling closer to her, you'll whisper replies to her endless questions.

"Y\N?" Natasha asked over the loud chainsaw and scream act.

"Mmh?" You made a noise, too groggy to talk. Natasha looked down to your close to sleep figure. Surprisingly, Natasha threw her legs over yours first, later resulting in tangled legs.

"I know your scared of the dark." She looked up to the darken ceiling. You sat up, legs still tied together, and combed your hair back.

"I...I'm sorry I lied." You intertwined your fingers, she gave a one sided smile.

"I wasn't completely honest either." She looked at you. "I'm always sleepy, I usually fall asleep two minutes after you."

Laughing, you reached for the remote and shut the T.V. off, curling up besides her.

"I could of bought a nightlight." You whispered.

"I could of fell asleep." Natasha whispered back, finding your hand under the covers and holding it.

"Good night, lair." She murmured, you smiled.

"Good night." Easily falling asleep next to her.
