I walked down to class with Jonathan as usual, himself giving me a checkup. I had accepted that Tyler would not let me walk anywhere alone, which left me feeling really caged. What if I wanted to go to rugby practice? I guess as Tyler said before, I no longer had a social life. I walked in to class early and took my seat near the back of the hall. Surprisingly, Tori was there. It was the first time I had seen her since she knocked me out, so it was going to be a little awkward. I put my bag down in front of me and took out my pencil case and notebook. "Woah..." Tori mumbled from beside me. I looked up at her to see her staring at my arm.
I had soon forgotten about that, and looked at it myself to familiarise myself again. I looked back up at her, giving her a look as if to question if she knew what it was. Her eyes flickered red as she stared at it. "You let someone mark you?" She asked, concern lacing her voice. I nodded, turning in my seat to face her.
"Yeah, and I have a question for you. Why weren't you here yesterday?" She looked to a person behind me before sighing and leaning back in her chair.
"I can't tell you that." She replied in a stale voice. I furrowed my brows.
"Why not?!" I squeaked, turning back around in my chair. I then saw Brian sit next to me, putting his bag on the floor. I looked back to Tori who was scribbling something down on paper.Next thing I knew I was hit in the head by a paper ball. It landed next to my left arm so I picked it up and unrolled it. It read: 'If you want to talk about it then meet me in the janitors closet I dragged you into before. This is between us only.' I looked over at Tori to see her face without being too suspicious. She eventually turned to look at me, making eye contact. I nodded my head slowly, making her bow her head too in understanding. I then looked back to the front as Mr. Jefferson entered the room.
----
"Alright class you can go now, remember your assignment for next week." Mr. Jefferson called as we all stood up from our chairs. Brian seemed to ignore me, taking a glance at my arm before walking off in front. Tori grabbed my arm before I left.
"Janitors closet remember, I'll explain everything." She told me in a serious tone. I swallowed hard and nodded, making her release my arm. I walked down the row and down the steps, reaching the door. I opened it up and looked outside, seeing Tyler had not arrived to pick me up. I had gotten lucky that day. Otherwise I didn't think I would have been able to get away from him. He doesn't like Tori.I pushed through the crowds and made it to the door I needed to step in to. I took one last look around to make sure no one was watching, then turned the handle to get in. I shut it behind me quickly and turned to face Tori, who was already there. Her friend Kara was sat down next to her on a step ladder. She was messing with her hair while Tori had her arms folded. "So you noticed I was missing yesterday."
"I did..." I replied, leaning back on the door so it couldn't be open the other way.
"I was out, because I was talking to the royals. I assume you know who they are by now." Her eyes looked down to her nails as she picked them.
"I was told that I'm related to them, but that's about it." I replied nervously."Well, because you recently were discovered as the key holder, I had to report to the royals as soon as possible. They need to know so they can collect you and take you some place safe." She explained, not sounding worried at all.
"What do you mean they are coming to collect me?" I twiddled my thumbs.
"You may think that 'Tyler' and his friends are strong or whatever, but they are no match for the people that want to use you for wrong. To keep yourself, myself, and the world safe, you need to go with the royals. Understood?"
"Well... Why didn't Tyler go and tell the royals?" I asked. Kara spoke up in reply.
"He probably has a crush on you and doesn't want you to leave." She mocked sarcastically, making Tori laugh along with her. I felt my cheeks burn red."T-that's not true." I protested, not being able to look them in the eyes.
"He marked you as well, which is insane for me to understand." Tori inquired.
"I'm surprised he didn't suck all the blood out of your body then and there." Kara added. Tori nodded and took a step closer to me, smelling near to my shoulder.
"You do have nice blood for someone holding so much destruction." She admitted. I felt myself tense up, suddenly coming to the fact that she could bite in to my neck at any time. I moved sideways away from her, keeping my back against the wall. Tori moved to in front of the door. I watched as her eyes flickered red a few times. I looked over at Kari who was also licking her lips. "It's hard to resist, isn't it?" Kara nodded, not breaking eye contact with my neck. I swallowed hard. What have I gotten myself into now? I asked myself while backing in to the corner. Then out of nowhere, Tori's knees weakened beneath her. The red in her eyes disappeared and turned to their innocent colour. She gave me a breathless look before collapsing to the floor. In a panic, Kara stood up to leave. She ran for the door, but barely took two steps before also falling and passing out. Then the door clicked open from the other side.
