The walk back to Tyler's, or the Vanoss house, was completely silent. Slightly awkward too. No, very awkward. Tyler held my wrist from the door of my room to the door of his house. All kids passing to get to lessons gave us strange looks since it was pretty weird. Although they probably had thought he was dragging me along to go beat me up in a corridor. I was the typical nerd. Tyler was very agitated, and I couldn't make out why. It couldn't just be his personality, because when he had taken me to the forest and shown me the great view, he was actually pretty sweet. Furthermore, the baggy and veiny eyes were a plus sign that something was off. I could always ask his friends what was up with him, since they were my new roommates. The front gate to the Vanoss house was locked, which served as a problem before. This time he just tore off the padlock and kicked open one side.

Once I was fully inside the house and safe Tyler tossed my bag in and shut the door on me. I then heard a lock click and I was engulfed by silence. "Tyler!" I shouted, banging my hands in the door. "You can't leave me here on my own!" I complained, trying to find a peephole in the door. There was no sound coming from the other side, letting me know that he had gone. I sighed, clenching my fists and lowering them to my sides. The house was quiet and pretty dark since all the curtains were shut. I turned away from the door to look at my surroundings, widening my eyes at the size of the area around me. The Vanoss house was huge, with high ceilings and an old fashioned tone to it. The furniture was all a little larger than usual, making me feel even smaller than before.

I wanted to explore the house, but I was too much of a pussy to leave the front door out of sight. I ventured to the room on my left, since it was an open doorway. It was a living room, a flat screen tv over a bookshelf, a corner sofa to one side. It was blood red, matching the rug over the wooden floor. I took off my shoes and placed them at the side of my suitcase by the door, then took a place on the sofa. I didn't want to go any further in, and just curled up to wait for Tyler to come home. Eventually, my eyelids become droopy, and I laid my head on the arm rest to nap.

----

I woke up to the sound of the front door opening, making my head snap up instantly. I looked over to the entrance where a person walked in, closing the door behind them. The dropped their backpack on the floor and noticed my stuff laying on the side too. They looked up at me instantly, knowing exactly where I was. It was 'Marcel', one of the Vampires I hadn't been fully introduced to. He seemed pretty neutral, and walked in to the living room to look around. He was probably checking that I didn't break anything. "Tyler told us you would be here." He spoke up, looking towards the bookshelf. "I didn't think you would be the chosen one... You're not exactly a knight in shining armour." I rolled my eyes and rested my head back on the arm of the sofa. "But it's whatever. Do you want showing to your room?" I looked up at him, nodding.

He led me up a set of grand stairs and down a left corridor. There were so many doors, each holding a secret of their own. We got to the end where a large window displayed the outdoors. It showed the front garden, where the gate was left half open from where Marcel had passed through. I looked back to my new bedroom door, where Marcel put a key in the lock to open it. "Why does everything have locks on..." I mumbled, Marcel managing to hear me anyway. He pushed the door open for me.
"It's called having protection, something you're gonna need a lot of now everyone is hunting you." I stepped in to my room, putting my suitcase down to one side. "I know you may not like me, or Vanoss, or Vampires at all, but we're trying to look out for you. Not just for ourselves." He admitted in a more calming tone.

"Thanks." I replied, walking over to my new bed. It was red, which seemed to be a repetitive theme for vampires. Blood, red, you know, pretty stereotypical if you ask me. I took my place on the bed and crossed my legs, waiting for Marcel to leave. I took a glance at my arm, where the mark Tyler had put on me had almost faded completely. He looked at me for a moment, giving me a sympathetic look, then left. I sighed, taking a glance around the room. Nothing but wardrobes and shelves, all undecorated. Plain. One single window was to the side, stretching from the floor to the ceiling. It gave off a nice view of the area around the house. They lived out near the forest that we had previously gone through in the dark. However, in the light it was hardly intimidating. I could see right through the trees to where the university was. The sight of it made me upset, knowing that I would never return.

I thought about all the friends I had made. Well, all four of them. Adam, Anthony, Steven and Nick. Me and Max never really talked, so I wouldn't have put us on a friend status. There was Michelle too, the girl who lived in the dorm next to us with purple hair. She was so funny and had the best laugh. Tori too, my friend Tori. She was sarcastic, and she was the only person who didn't find Mr. Jefferson that good looking. Brock and Brian had recently come in to the equation, but I wouldn't have said they were friends. I thought Brock was being nice when he gave me that 'friendship bracelet' but it just turns out he didn't want me talking to Tyler. I shuffled up to the top of my bed, pulling the covers up over myself. I was feeling this horrible pain in my stomach. It wasn't a literal feeling, I was home sick.
