I stood outside in the back garden waiting for my next part of training. It had been a week since I had had my 'pep talk' from Tyler. I had been working hard, getting every kind of injury possible. I had cut and or bruised every part of my body, even earning scars. I had also gotten closer to my new friends, which I could actually call that. They were friendlier once I got to know them, and I guess it worked the same the other way around. We shared some things in common, and I got to learn a lot about the whores at university. Man I would have so much gossip to tell Nick and Anthony.

Jonathan stepped out of the back door, walking towards me with a plain expression. I thought that my training would be led by Tyler, but I wasn't going to complain. I stood with my feet shoulder-width apart and arms behind my back. He stood opposite me, looking at my attire. "Today's lesson, how to fight." He stated, making me feel like I had just gotten shot down. I stuttered out a 'what' which he ignored. "Cha ryuht! [Attention!]" He commanded, making me put my hands to either side of me, my feet meeting in the middle. "Kyung nae. [Bow.]" I lowered the top half of my body to bow in respect. I had learnt to give respect to others, although when two people wanted to fight you had to look at each other while bowing. I decided not to. "Choon bi. [Ready.]" Jonathan stated, which I took as my indication to stand ready.

I stood with my hands in front of me in fists. They were an inch away from my stomach and the knuckles were white. He nodded in approval. "I'm gonna teach you some new terminology before we start. This one's quite important." I nodded in approval. "It's called a kihap. It means to yell or shout." I was quite confused by what he meant, but I let him continue. He shouted a loud 'hey' at me suddenly, almost making me jump back. It was certainly startling. "We use it for three things. Firstly, to scare your opponent. Vampires hiss, humans can't, so it's your next best thing. Secondly, it helps clear your lungs out really quick so you can catch your breath faster. Thirdly, power. If you kihap at the same time of your punch, it helps generate power." I nodded in understanding.

"I want you to kihap." He demanded. I shook my head.
"I don't know how to..." I replied, not wanting to look like an idiot.
"A kihap is personal to you, the only thing that matters is that it comes from your stomach and not your throat." I sighed and bounced around on my feet.
"Alright... Alright." I shook my hands off to try and gain time for whatever I was trying to do. Jonathan just looked at me with a fed up expression. I kept taking up time, not really wanting to randomly shout a 'hey' to him.
"Why don't you start by doing it wth me. We'll both punch and kihap at the same time, so you can practice before we fight." He suggested, which I nodded to. Jonathan moved to beside me and got into 'mot sohgi' which meant fighting stance. I copied his actions, putting 70% of my weight on my back foot.

After a while of practicing my punches and stances, Jonathan told me that we would begin the fight. I wasn't really ready to fight a vampire but I was hoping that he would go easy on me. We faced each other and bowed in respect. I then prepared myself, physically and mentally. Jonathan changed into his intimidating self, making me seem tiny to him. Or maybe just a little 'mini' hahah.. No? He made a hissing noise at me while bouncing on his feet to try and scare me. With my new knowledge of a kihap I shouted back at him. I felt like I was understanding their culture more and more, even if it was fucking insane. He smirked at my new understanding of a shout then prepared to come at me. He faked a punch, making me jump backwards. "You should also learn to fake your moves." He suggested, which I gave a nod in reply to.

He went in for a kick instead which hit the side of my rib cage. I jumped sideways, groaning in pain a little. I stepped forward with a punch, shouting as I did. He blocked it which made me attempt more than once to hit him with both of my arms. Each time I let off an annoyed grunt as he hit them away or dodged them. I backed off and made a kick, switching legs so my front one was now to the back. He took my foot which hit him in the side and twisted it outwards so I fell to the floor. "If you're going to kick me then do it faster." He helped me up and I sprung back into stance. "Extend your knee first, then kick the lower half of your leg out. Pull it back to your knee then back to your side." He explained, demonstrating by kicking me once again. I gritted my teeth and complained. He switched stances a few times, hissing at me once again.

"Alright, I got this.."
