Chapter Thirteen

Chapter Thirteen.

Just before he could utter another curse an explosion rocked the building behind him. Noah immediately knew the cause, but he couldn't leave Cammy to go check on her uncle. Ashton can take care of himself. He's a dragon after all. But the explosion was just the distraction he needed.

While Owen was distracted watching the smoke, he flashed behind him and his head was rolling on the floor seconds later.

Cammy dropped on her knees sobbing. Her shoulder length dark hair covering her face. Her red dress was covered in dirt and droplets of blood.

Noah knelt down next to her. He saw her flinch slightly. The Watch was shouting at him to move back but he ignored them. He sighed trying to relax himself.
"Cammy. Your uncle sent me to get you. He said, 'he wants his little red dragon safe.' "

Noah wasn't sure it would work but that's all he had. The girl suddenly launched herself at him wrapping her arms around his neck. He sighed in relief and held her back standing up.

" Cammy!"

Both of them turned at the shout. Noah sighed in relief when he saw Ashton jogging towards them. He came to a halt in front of them and Cammy didn't wait to launch herself in his arms. He held her tightly to him as she clung to his neck crying softly.

"Black! Hands in the air!"

The call reminded them that they weren't alone. Ashton handed Cammy to him and stood in front of them shielding them from the men pointing guns at Noah.

"Get out of the way human. We don't want you to get hurt." Another shouted.

"He's not human," a man said appearing from behind them.

"He's right," Ashton said with a smirk as black shiny scales started to form on his arms as he transformed. Noah knew he couldn't let him transform fully. He wasn't in trouble now but if he killed anyone from the department of the underworld watch. There'd be hell to pay. So he had to stop him before he did something stupid.

Noah moved in front of Ashton since grabbing him would only burn his hands. "Don't. They're cops."

"So what?"

"Cammy doesn't need to be on the run just because you killed a cop and become one of the most wanted supernaturals," he explained and Ashton cooled down his arms changing back with a sigh.

"You know they're going to take us in," he drawled.

"Yeah and if they take too long to let us go then I give you permission to go all fire breather," Noah answered as he watched two of the men approach after ensuring that none of them would attack.

Ashton still stood slightly in front of Noah and Cammy. Noah studied the approaching men. One of them was the same height as him. Short blonde hair. The other was tall, built with shaggy dark but short hair. They were both dressed in casual clothes but he could clearly see the badges on their waists.

"We have to arrest you." The blonde said. "You can either come willingly or..."

They all knew what the 'or' meant. Noah was sure that the cops wouldn't win if they resisted but that would attract too much attention. That he did not need. And with the bounty on his head, he didn't need all those people knowing where he was. He's good but not that good. He wouldn't be alive for long if all the people looking for him came at him at once.

Maybe the dragon would help, but he wasn't sure Ashton would stick around since they had already found Cammy. So they had to be taken in.

"Lead the way Agents," Noah said to the man. Ashton looked at him as if asking if he was sure, so he just nodded.

"Okay gentlemen. Follow me." The man said and they turned heading back the way they'd come. He stopped to look back past him. Noah glanced back. He'd completely forgotten that the wolves were there.

"You too Mr. Wolf."

Lucas stiffly nodded his head. "After I make sure my brother is okay."

With that Noah and Ashton followed the two men, with the other cops watching them wearily. Tsk, it's like he'd just go raving mad and attack everyone.
