Chapter Twenty two
Noah whimpered after Ivan retracted his hand from his chest. It wasn't the first wound he'd inflicted but it was the most painful so far. He'd been trying to make him scream since he'd got ahold of him and he'd finally succeeded. There was no way he could keep that in.
"Good boy. Now let's just wait for your dragon to get here. I could almost taste the sweet blood. I can't wait," Ivan said with a grin as he watched him writhing on the floor.
Noah knew he wouldn't be able to kill Ivan. He wasn't strong enough for the master vampire. He'd just been lucky the other time. Ivan hadn't expected it. Like he said, most people underestimate him because of his physical features.
All he'd needed was to buy his friends time to get there. Even a master vampire wouldn't be strong enough to go up against all of them at once. Especially with a dragon involved. But Ivan had something else in mind. If this went as the master vampire wants it'll be bad for all of them. He just hoped Ashton would keep a clear head when he rushed there after his scream. Shifters are very emotional creatures. And all their work would go down the drain if the dragon didn't keep his cool and follow the strategy they'd planned.
As soon as the dragon walked into the room and his gaze landed on him, Noah knew he wouldn't be able to remain calm.
"Get. Away. From. Him."
Ivan just grinned at the dragon, raising his hands up in the universal gesture for surrender. Ashton growled and Ivan moved away.
"My pleasure. I already got what I want," he smirked his gaze moving to the other side of the dragon.
Noah's wound had commenced healing and he was able to reassure Ashton when he looked at him. "I'm okay. It's already healing."
He turned to see Ivan approach Cyril. No, he can't. "Cyril. Help Cyril," he told the dragon. But by the time they turned back to look at the master vampire, he already had the human in his grip.
"I never thought I'd see one of you in my lifetime," he said his claws grazing his neck. They all frowned in confusion. Hasn't he seen a human before? Cyril is human, isn't he?
"You don't know? Well let's just say that you're way tastier than a dragon...I also know someone who would be happy to see you dead," Ivan said at the human's confused stare.
Noah didn't like the sound of that. But with Cyril's position, it'll be hard for any of them to get close. Noah could finally stand. He heard a growl next to him and looked over to find Lukas in his wolf form.
"Hello Lukas, it's been awhile," Ivan greeted his claws still on the humans neck. The other digging into his stomach.

Ashton knew he had to do something. But then he remembered. He'd seen something before he ran back into the room when he heard Noah scream. He'd totally forgotten. Then everything Ivan said made sense. But Ivan didn't know everything about the birds. Ashton had been told by his parents. He even has his father's journal where he wrote everything about them. He actually wrote about everything. From wolves, vampires, dragons, demons...he's getting off topic. But best of all, he knows the bird's creator. He opened his jaws ready to let out fire...
"Are you sure of what you're about to do dragon. He's never felt your kinds fire before. Are you sure he'd survive it," Ivan taunted. But Ashton knew this was his only chance. Or Cyril will die and if Ivan caught even a sip of his blood they won't be able to stop him then.

Cyril's heart thumped painfully hard in his chest. He knew what the dragon was planning. This was their only chance at killing Ivan. And if he died in the process, then so be it.He closed his eyes and waited for the dragons fire. He'd heard about it. How it's so much hotter than normal fire.
He felt the heat of fire on his body and Ivan screamed as he let him go. It was so hot. He was sure his skin was red from the scorch. He couldn't stop the screams from leaving his throat. But Cyril didn't dare open his eyes. He just couldn't.

Avis shot up in bed. He's awake. His little Oedipus was finally awake. He got out of bed and reached for his phone on the bedside table.
"Hello?"
"Leonard, I need you to prepare. We'll be leaving in one hour."
"What is it this time?" the man on the other end of the line sighed.
"He's awake. I have to get to him. Before my brother does,"
"Yeah...I'll be there in thirty."
He hung up the phone.
'I'll find you little bird. Before my brother does. I can't let him kill you again. Not this time.'
