Chapter Twenty One.

Ashton was emersed in the fight as soon as he stepped into the largest section of the warehouse. He had broken some chairs legs to make makeshift stakes which he carried in each hand.

He dove into the fight, staking any vampire he came across to. Although vampires are fast, he could see them clearly. Being the oldest species around had its perks. And he was thankful, since he'd be toast judging by the number of vampires they were fighting.

Ashton spotted Lukas' black wolf attack three vampires that attacked him. With the swiftest of moves they were all down as he moved to his next kill.

No wonder his pack was one of the greatest packs in the world. If they fought like him, there's no beating them.

They were holding their own but the vampires were too many. They won't be up for long. He focused back on his fight just in time to elude a claw to the chest. But he wasn't fast enough time the vampire slashed his side. He winced but couldn't waste time on pain. He tightened his grip on his wooden stakes ready to strike. The vampire he was facing smirked at him. His tongue flicking out to lick his bloody fangs. Ashton grimaced and charged, but this vampire wasn't like the others. He wasn't dumb enough to get close to a dragon, but attacked fast with his claws. Flashing by him and leaving open wounds as he passed. Ashton was getting frustrated. When another cut came he groaned. He's had enough.

His blood burnt as he transformed. Black scales formed on his body as he enlarged into a mighty dragon. He let out a mighty cry before facing the vampire who was smart enough to step back. But it was too late to run. He'd already poked the dragon.

Ashton let fire out of his mouth, burning the vampire before he could escape. He turned to the surrounding vampires letting out a stream of fire, careful not to hit the wolves. But since most of the warehouse was made of wood. It caught fire. Spreading fast throughout the building.

His fire had helped their side since it scorched almost half of the vampires making them even. At least in number, but not in strength.

......

Cyril was in a bind. He was surrounded by vampires, at least six by his count. Even though he's a hunter, he was still human. There was no way he could take down all of them in time. Unless a miracle happened and took down three of them and leave him deal with the three. But all the others were busy. He'd just have to take it as it was. He's lived a good life after all.

Just then a stream of fire caught the three on his left almost catching his arm but he moved to the side. He didn't lose his cool and attacked the others while they were still in shock. He knew where the fire came from. Ashton had transformed. That's the miracle he'd been hoping for, he would have been dead if not for that dragon.

He did his work fast but he didn't see the vampire that tackled him from behind. He tried to fight him back and they struggled on the floor. There was fire burning beside them and Cyril tried to avoid it and at the same time pushing the vampire towards it. But the vampire wasn't having it. The vampire took hold of his right arm just below the elbow, tightening his grip. His stake fell as the vampire directed his hand to the fire. Cyril struggled with all his might but the vampire was too strong. He watched in despair as his hand was shoved in the fire...

...but nothing happened. He waited for the burning pain but it wasn't there. They both watched the hand in amazement when the vampire was tackled from him. He pulled his hand out of the fire just in time to see the wolf finish his attacker off.

A piercing scream cut the air just as he'd scrambled to his feet.

Black...
