I apologize for any grammatical errors. Thank you and happy reading! 😊

"Ayoko na..." He said.
"Pagod na ako..." She said.

Two years into their relationship, they started to have fights. Small ones at first. Like, him finishing her box of favorite candies and her going through his stuff and would leave it disarranged. Then after a while, fights became more serious. Because of forgotten phone calls, special events, and frequent date nights became thrice a month, twice, to none at all.

Something's about to change tonight.

Maine stared at her phone contemplating if she should call him. But before she could dial his number, RJ's face appeared on her screen.

"Hello?" She greeted, unsure.

"Maine?"

Maine. It was the first time since they got together that he called her by her name. It was always Love, Mahal, Baby, Babe, and any other endearment there is in this world, but never Maine. She closed her eyes for a moment before answering.

"Yes, Richard?" There was silence on the other line.

"Richard, are you still there?"

"Huh? Ah yes. Are you available tonight? We need to talk."

"Talk? About? It's been what? Two weeks since we last talked."

"That's exactly what we need to talk about. Pwede ba tayo mag-meet somewhere?" Maine thought for a moment.

"Sure. We can just meet at the park across my condo."

"Okay. I'll be there in 30 minutes." And he hung up. He. Hung. Up. Maine was surprised. This was not the Richard that she knew.

After the call, he stared at the blank sky. "Parang nakikisama ang langit sa akin ha." He thought. He was very nervous talking to her a while ago. He was unsure of what to say. It felt like the first time. It felt like the time when he asked her out.
"Bahala na." And he started to drive away.

Maine received a text from RJ telling her that he's only one block away. She fixed herself, put a jacket on and went outside. She was about to cross the street when he saw a familiar figure sitting on one of the swings, his back facing her. She was only a feet away from him but he seemed not to notice her presence. She took this time to look at him. To REALLY look at him. She was just standing there behind him, saying nothing. He looked like he was deep in thought. Then suddenly, he looked back at her and she saw his eyes. His eyes which were usually happy and lively became sad and gloomy. She took her eyes away from him and sat on the swing next to his and just looked anywhere but him. They were silent for what feels like hours when RJ spoke.

"Let's end this." It got Maine's attention. Her body stiffened and her eyes widened. Somehow, she anticipated that the "talk" will go this way, but it still took her by surprise.

"Ayoko na maging unfair sa'yo Maine. Alam ko na napapabayaan ko na ang relasyon natin. Alam ko na nasasaktan na kita sa bawat tawag na hindi ko nagagawa o nasasagot, sa bawat celebration na wala ako, o sa bawat date night na hindi natutuloy. Kaya naman, I'm letting you go. Mahal kita. Mahal na mahal, Maine. Pero nagiging unfair na ako sa'yo. Sa ating dalawa." Before he could say more, she looked at him.

"Ngayon ba hindi ka nagiging unfair?" She laughed bitterly.

"Ang unfair mo RJ. Ganon na lang ba yun? You're letting me go? Bullshit! Wala ba akong masasabi sa relasyon natin?" His eyes softened.
