Chicken Nuggets

"RJ you need to take care of yourself. Hindi pwede na lagi ka na lang nagkakasakit."

"Yes, boss. I promise."

"Promise, promise. Promise mo yang mukha mo. I told you to eat the one I cooked for you yesterday pero Mama Ten told me, isang subo ka lang then pinamigay mo na. Don't you like my cooking?" RJ saw a hint of sadness in Maine's eyes.

"Of course, I love it! Eh kasi naman may nakita akong mga bata sa kalye so I decided to give it to them. Sorry, Mahal." RJ's right hand gripped Maine's left hand. Her face softened.

"That's sweet of you Mahal pero if mamimigay ka ng pagkain make sure na ikaw kumain. You need as much food as you can. Kagagaling mo lang sa sakit. You shouldn't even be driving me home."

"Yes, I promise talaga. I don't want to get you all worried na naman. Hayaan mo na. Na-miss kita eh tsaka okay naman na ako. Smile na Mahal Ko." Maine just looked at him for a few seconds, sighed and finally, smiled.

"Yan, nag smile na ang mahal ko." He too, smiled showing off his dimple.

"How was your day?"

"Same, same. Na-miss kita." Maine scooted over and put her head on his shoulder.

"Let me guess, gutom ka na 'no?" How did RJ know? Maine becomes (extra) clingy when she's tired and/or hungry. He only felt Maine nod her head.

"What do you want?"

"Drive thru na lang tayo sa McDo para mas madali. I want chicken nuggets."

"As you wish, my love."

When her order came, she immediately let go of RJ's hand and took the chicken nuggets. RJ laughed at how adorable Maine is.

"Parang baby. May chicken nuggets lang binitawan na kamay ko. Nakakaselos naman. Hahaha"

"Shhhhhh. I'm really hungry." RJ was quietly driving while Maine was enjoying her chicken nuggets. She glanced at him twice before calling him.

"Psst! RJ!"

"Hmmmm?" RJ answered without looking at her.

"RJ! Look at me." He glanced at her and saw her holding out a piece of chicken nugget.

"Aahhhh...." He did as he was asked and she put the nugget inside his mouth.

"I love you more than I love chicken nuggets."

RJ's ears turned red and smiled that giddy-thirteen-year-old smile. ❤️
