Chapter Eight- "The Vet"

I jumped out of the truck, closely followed by Kassana. I looked at her, "Stay here, I'm going to help the fight." I say. Kassana shakes her head, "I'm coming with you." She says, I shrug, and shift into Zara, who lets put a howl of happiness. I rush into battle, and I look at Kassana's wolf. Cool! Her paws are a red/pink color just like her hair! I leap into one of the rouges with a growl. The rouge looks at me. Then I notice something strange about the rouge's fur. It has a red stream going down its back. I jump back as the wolf turns me over and pins me down. I snap at him, but it's no use. There was a flash of black and the next thing I know Aatu's wolf tumbles Draco over onto it's back. Aatu growls and I notice a difference between the two shades of red. Aatu's wolf's red shade is more like a regular red wolf, while Draco's is more dyed.

I bolt after Aatu, who lets Draco to his paws. Draco howls, and two more wolves come barreling at us. I race into the woods; I can hear the sound of wolf paws pounding behind me. I glance to my side to see Aatu's wolf racing beside me. I blink at him, and skid to a stop when we come to a human road. I gulp, and turn to face the two rouge wolves. I growl at them, and there's a gunshot and one of the wolves grows eerily still and falls down. I gasp, and turn around. Thank the Moon Goddess that Vesta and Sofia were there!

"You can't shoot them!" Vesta says. "Yes I can. You just watched me do so." Sofia replied simply. Vesta huffs, and glares at Sofia. "Just don't hit the rare-colored ones." She says. I feel a bite on my leg, and turn my head around and give a howl of pain. Ow! I snap at the wolf, and Aatu topples over it. The wolf snapped at Aatu's neck, managing to give him a nasty bite. Aatu yekps, and there's another gunshot. The other rouge falls dead. I lay on the ground with a whimper, and Aatu pulls himself over to me. He lays his head on my neck for comfort. I hear Vesta say "Awwe! They're so cute!" She says. "Yeah but they taste even better." Sofia says. Vesta snatches the gun from Sofia's grip, earning a muffled "I hate you" from Sofia.

Vesta nods at us. "Get them in the truck." She says. Sofia walks over to a van, one of the types dog catchers use. She grabs a kit. " Tranquilizer darts?" Vesta asks. Sofia nods, and loads another gun thing. With one shot, I yelped when something sharp hit my flank. I looked at Aatu blearily, who looked at Sofia with a growl. Sofia loads the gun again, and shoots Aatu with a dart. Soon sleep over rules me

I wake to find myself in a cage, luckily still in wolf form. I get up slowly; my back leg is still as a rock. I yelp, noticing it's a cast. I glance at another cage to see Aatu, who's neck is bandaged. He pads up to my cage, and then shifts. I turn my head away so I can't see. "Shift, so we can get out of here" Aatu whispers. I huff then shifts, I stretch and look at Aatu. "Don't even think about doing anything, you hear me?" I growl, and crouch down, practically folding over. Aatu does the same. I look at the lock, and unlock it. It's simple. Wow.

I crawl out of the cage, and unlock Aatu's cage next. Soon he's outside his cage and hugs me. "I'm glad you're okay." He whispers. I push him away. "You don't have to be so protective!" I say, and look down at my leg. "Hey! It's healed!" I say, and begin to run around. Aatu laughs and I chuckle.

Aatu nods to a door, which seems to lead outside. "Let's get out of here." He says, and together we walk out. I glance back and look around then follow Aatu.
