Chapter 28- "Petra"

Petra's POV

I snarled and attacked Draco, we tumbled on the ground. I was lashing out at him angrily, and soon Aatu joined me. We attacked him vigorously. I snarled in Draco's face and he gave an evil laugh and threw me off. I. was thrown to the side of the stairwell, my spine making connection with the corner. I heard a small crack of it. I whimpered. And soon, I fell unconsious.

Aatu's POV

I stared wide-eyed at Petra. Pain, fear, and anger rushed through me and I turned to Draco. He was laughing tauntingly. I snarled and attacked him. This time, using methods Petra taught me. I attacked from behind, and clamped my jaws on his neck from behind. Then I saw Poppy staring at me with eyes of horror. Then someone barreled into her, attacking her. I hear a yelp and silence from her.

I bit down harder of Draco as he squirmed. He snarled, but I could hear his breath grow ragged.

Suddely he fell to the floor. I jumped off of him, and began to bite at his sides. Blood poured out of his wounds. Soon Draco was limp. I glanced around, everyone was still fighting as I padded back over to Petra. I sat down next to her, and pulled her unconsious body close to me. I could feel no broken bones as I passed my paw over her and when I got to her spine I felt a small crack, or bend, or something that wasn't right.

As the battle continued, I realized no one would stop until they noticed Draco was dead.

"Draco's dead! Run!" I heard a werecat yowl. Soon all the other wolves that were not dead ran out. Other than one werecat. He was a large orange tiger with emerald green eyes. I growled at him, and stood protectivly over Petra.

"Hey Alpha? That's my..." The tiger glanced away, "...sister." He whispered. I growl at him. "Don't. Go. Near. My. Mate. Sister or no sister." I snarl. He blinks and takes a step back with a nod.

I curl up next to Petra's tiger form. Wolves around me are howling in delight, and a few of them have shifted back and have clothes on.

Kassana and Vesta are the first ones to realize Petra and I. They shove past Petra's brother and stare at us. Kassana's already in her human form. She's just wearing a tang top and shorts. "Alpha? Should we get her to the pack doctors?" Kassana asks. I nod and stand up. Kassana walks over to me, and glances at Petra. Her brother pads over to us. "I can help" He says. I hesitate before nodding.

He gently grabs Petra by her scruff and Kassana and Vesta lead him to the elevator to the Pack Doctor. We're all in the elevator and I'm thumping my tail impatiently. The door opens and It's my turn to lead them to the Alpha's Medics. Best of the best doctors in the pack.

We were instantly met by Juliet and her mate, Romeo. Two of the best doctors in the pack. What happened to the Luna? Juliet asks. Draco threw her off her, her spine connected with the stair well. Smackdab on the corner. I tell her. Juliet nods, And who is this werecat? She motions to Petra's brother. ...Petra's brother... now can we please find out what's wrong with Petra?! I growl. Juliet nods and motions for us to follow her. With the help of everyone, we're able to get Petra onto a table in the examination room.

"We're going to need to get her to shift back... I reccomend that the Luna's brother--" Juliet was cut off. "My name's Jason." He says. "Jason, Aatu, Vesta, and Kassana leave the room. And it might help to get some clothes on. We're going to run some X-Rays and CAT scans." Juliet says. I give a small growl, but end up joining the others. Romeo's there and hands Vesta, Jason, and I each some clothes. I snatch some, and go to a bathroom to change. When I come back out, I sit down and wait with Vesta, Kassana, and Jason.

Panic's running through my veins as I wait.

"Alpha. Would you like to see the X-Rays?" I hear Juliet ask from somewhere in the room. I give a slight nod and follow Juliet to the room.

We're looking at Petra's X-Rays. "She didn't fracture or break her spine. That's a good thing. Though, I do see something that looks like it could've been Scoliosis, but that's something we probably won't need to worry about since she's finished growing... But this is one thing I'm concerned about." Juliet says and points to something on the X-Rays of her lungs. I squint as I look at it.

What was that?

"I think it's a puncture. It's fatal. I'm not sure when it happened, and it might've happened the last time you two came in here... but this may cause Petra's life to... cease to exist." Juliet says with a worried expression. My blood froze in my veins for a second.

Life with no... Petra? I look ay Juliet, then back at the X-Rays. "Just... do whatever you can for her." I say and leave the room. I sit back down. "So. What's up with Petra?" Kassana asks. I stay silent.

Alone with my thoughts.

This can't end this way. It just... can't.

I stare at the ground for what seems like forever.

"Hey, Aatu? I need to go pick up my little sister. My mom think's I'm not spending enough time with her so.... I'll see you guys later? Keep me updated with Petra! I'll be back!" Vesta says and leaves the room.

But I barely notice.

Petra's life is in danger.

I take a minute to gather the other's expressions.

Jason looks torn. He doesn't know what's going on. But from how I'm acting he must know that something bad is going on. And he seems worried about his sister who he's just found again. Kassana looks... Tiered. Like she needs a nap. But her eyes are puffy and red.

She must've been crying.

And me? I honestly don't care how I look. As long as Petra's all right....

"Alpha? The Luna's asking to see you."
