The constant ruckus within the house walls at night should of been the first warning.
Then the ability to suddenly be able to punch a hole through the wall just by tapping it should of been the second.
Those tiny little black bugs sneaking around the house walls should of been the dead giveaway.
But no matter how many warnings we were given, having the house collasping just as we managed to escape was not something I expected to just happen. Damn Termites.
The wreck was choatic, wood debris everywhere. The air was polluted with dust meaning we were shoved back to the street by all emergency services around. I felt my heart dropping.
I hadn't realised I was crying until my neighbour Hail pulled me in her embrace. The comfort was much needed. The whole street was out, watching the aftermath of the horror.
"Judy, Paul, I suggest you guys stay at ours for the night. We have more than enough room for you. No ifs or buts. We'll discuss the rest tomorrow" I heard George insist from beside. My father thanking him as they continued to converse about the destruction of ours once standing house.
I could feel myself being dragged away from the scene, but I was too in shock to actually comprehend anything. The scenery in front of me becoming blurry. Just the thought of all my belongings gone was enough to have me blank out and forget about the world.
It felt like hours before I finally looked around at my surroundings. Hail had left me for my parents and I was glad, I could actually breathe in some fresh air alone and in the quiet space. Peering around I could tell by the multiple picture frames that I was in the neighbouring house.
Great. Another unavoidable encounter with the ass-king.
Speak about the devil and he shall appear. Mason waltered into the room pleasantly surprised to see me on the couch, his eyes showing a sick type of entertainment.
"I see you've joined my list of girls who will stay the night" his signature smirk shining in all its glory.
I grinned back, "As you have of mine."
"And what list would that be?" His smirk growing.
With my most serious face, I answered back "My homicide list."
"You have problems" he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief walking into the room. Squaring his shoulders up.
"As you can see I'm not in the mood tonight"
Judging by this blank face he had absolutely no idea what has happened outside. Like come on! It wasn't like it was a silent matter. It happened 5 metres away from his window.
"Your an idiot" I spat out, just unbelievably angry at the moment. It was a mixture of the house, school and Mason in general.
Pointing to the window beside me, I stared at him "Look outside and you'll be caught up with everything that has happened tonight."
With that I sat down and refused to look back up at him as he did as I said. His quick intake of air signalled that he understood now.
"The hell?" I heard him mutter to himself.
