First chapter of first book.…
*inhales*, *exhales*, *freaks out again*.
Happy reading!
===========================It was a brown colour liquid called coffee I was swirling with my spoon while giving full ears to my best friend Jenn aka Jennifer Anthony.
"..and then, listen to this, Phil caught my wrist and asked sorry! How cute! He is the most hottest person I've ever seen!", she exaggerated while she played with her hair sprayed straight hair.
"Didn't you say someone else was the most hottest just last week!", I objected.
I hadn't even bothered to learn his name because I knew she would have a new one next day. I'm surprised he lasted a week. The table experienced a sudden jerk when a body collided with it at a lightening speed. My eyes darted to the spilled drops of coffee from my cup.
"Shit. I'm so sorry." Nora apologised in her worried tone while her hands darted for the tissues to put some on the coffee, "I'm sorry for being late as well. I had bo-"
"YES, yes, boxing practice." Jenn cut her, "Find a better next excuse next time, honey. I'm so done with this one! Been hearing it for years now! Seriously! You need to learn how to manage time.. "
Jenn went on while Nora took a seat and baked herself in Jenn's heated anger. We were best of friends from high school times. And even to this day, Nor ignored timings while Jenn's particularity about timing got the best out of her anger.
My eyes wandered around the coffee shop. This one was undoubtedly the best in town. The coffee here was heaven. The staff was phenomenal. Anyone visiting this town should take a shot at this coffee shop.
Also, I worked here part time when I'm not being a college student from Monday to Saturday.
My eyes stuck to the only visually pleasing here that happened to be a man dressed in formal sitting outside the cafe seating area. He was engrossed in his laptop, work, I'm guessing, to a point where it could be concluded that his laptop and him were a being. Differentiating between them was like concluding I'm actually going to sleep when I say I'm off to bed.
One of my biggest weakness is men in formal suits with sleeves folded and tie loosened and no coat and he checked all the boxes perfectly.
"I'm so proud"
"Shush! She might hear us."
"She's finally checking out a guy!"
"I'm going to cry with happiness."The whispers of my dear friends got to me and I made a sudden turn towards them.
They had their faces resting in their palms with elbows on the table and dreamy eyes."Ugh" I rolled my eyes.
"No, no, please continue." Nor encouraged, "It only happens once in a blue moon. Other times, we're confirmed you're asexual."She wasn't off, I didn't check out guys that often. It just..never felt right or any attraction for some reason. Probably why I've been single my entire 21 years of life. But what's the use of a relationship when there's no depth and craze.
" He's quite hot, the businessman CEO types." Jenn was staring at him now.
"Definitely!" Nor agreed.
"I'm also going to go ahead and say he's the most hottest person I've ever seen." Jenn smiled now.Annoyance simmered.
"Alright, now. Stop, you two. What if he catches you two creeps staring at him!" I expressed my concern.
Nora covered her mouth from my eyes and whispered not so subtly to Jenn, "Someone's jealous", all while maintaining an eye contact with me.
I narrowed my eyes at both, making them drop the topic then.
"Oh! Did I mention that I've been selected for the finals of boxing tournament that's to happen next month!" Nora announced.
"Congratulations!"
And, with that, the flow of the conversation turned ways away from my prominent single life. After taking many different waves, it came to a halt when I announced I had to leave.
"Where to?" Jenn asked.
"Home." I answered, "where else?"
"I saw that hot guy leave just a few minutes ago so I assumed..." she trailed off with a childish giggle. Nor joined her."What do you two take me as? A stalker?" I asked, even though I knew they would both follow it with a strong nod.
They did just that.
"I have other better things to do than stalk someone like sleep" I objected.
"Alright, drive safe." Nor sobered up, "and leave a text once you reach."
Biding a bye, I walked away with my helmet to my motor bike.
