CH 40 NEW-(PLACE)-YORK

Rachel's POV

I gathered myself up and guided to my room. I packed the things I needed. I would get away from here and find a new life in New York. Finally I use my bachelor's degree and get a good job. I'll do what I really wanted to. Tears streamed down both of my cheeks as I harshly brushed it away with the back of my hands.
After I was done I walked out and took a seat in the living room waiting for my mother and brother. After waiting for some time with my tears.

I knew I shouldn't break down. It's just for one year. I should be strong. But I couldn't keep my tears in control. It just kept flowing with memories flowing through my brain.

'No! I am better then that!' I murmured to myself and got up pacing around the living room until I heard the door opening.

In entered Ron and mom with concern in their eyes for me. Mom came and hugged me.
"I am so sorry to hear you both broke up" she said "What happened?"
I looked at Ron who had the same question in his eyes meaning Ashton didn't tell him or her anything.

"We-" I cut myself because my voice came out harsh. I composed myself and spoke again "we didn't have a normal breakup. We just need some time apart"

"What's with the bag, Rach? Are you going somewhere?" Ron eyed the bags
"I have planned to go away from here and find a life elsewhere" I said
I didn't mention where because what if he discloses it to Ashton by mistake?

After a lot of convincing and giving reasons like Dylan and Lucas would be there with me all the time they both agreed. I promised I would call them as soon as I get a new phone or with someone else's phone as I reach there then bid them goodbye.

"Hey! Little one" Lucas said as I got into the car "this is my mate Dylan"
"Hi" I waved my hand towards him
"Hello, Miss Wilander" he smiled at me
"Rach would do, Dylan" I smiled at him
"New York?" Lucas skinned asked
"New York" I confirmed as my hand swim through my bag to search for my phone. I pressed the call button and press the phone to my ear.

"Hello" a sleepy voice answered
"Find me an apartment, David" I said

5 and half months later

I ran through the hallway of Parker industries. I was late, again.
After one month of sharing an apartment with David and trying to get out of my sadness I had started job hunting. This place was the most classier and I didn't expect them to take me in for assistant in accounting department. One month after my first month as an intent intern I was selected for permanent post and I couldn't be any happier.
Did I tell you all that David is married now so to give them privacy I moved out of his place and bought a new place for myself and Dylan and Lucas.
"Wait up" I shouted to the dude in elevator and elevator door. The door was just gonna shut when I slid in.
His face was facing the wall so I couldn't see his face.

"Thank you so much, Mister" I was looking at his back. I pressed the fifteenth floor and observed that the last floor's button was pressed. Why would he want to go to the last floor. It's a devil's aka CEO's cave according to one of my new friend Violet. He doesn't come frequently to this branch of his big empire but when he does it feels like a tornado coming in the office.
'None of my business' I shrugged 'this person was genuine to me so I should thank him'
" You really saved me today. This is like the third time I am late this week and I am sure my boss is not gonna like it. But you know what? I don't care! He is such an old man and still flirts with young girl. I hate him. Although you seem like a nice person. Nobody has ever waited for me to come in to close the elevator except for you. I wonder why this elevator is not occupied by many. Usually it's tons of people in one elevator. Oh, how silly of me I didn't introduce myself! I am Rachel Wilander, assistant in accounting department."

I expected him to turn around and speak to me but nothing as such happened. He didn't even turn around. Well, that was strange. Then he pressed something black that was already there in his ears. I then realised that those were ear buds in his ears. I was actually talking to myself! Does he even know I am with him in the elevator?
Lets test.
"Idiot" I whispered
He didn't turn
"Donkey, monkey, stupid, deer, snake" I shouted but he didn't turn or give a reaction.
Looks like he doesn't even know I am there with him in this elevator.

The elevator door made some sound telling me we have reached my floor.
"Okay, I'll take your leave, Mr Snake. It was a... nice... calling you nick names. Bye, have a good day!" I laughed and walked out of the elevator just to come in front of Violet, new friend that I told you people about.

"Good morning, V"I smiled at her
She ignored me and looked past my shoulder to see that guy who helped me come in time before the door could close.
"No way! You were in the lift with Nickolas Parker!" She shouted, gaining some attention from the people nearby but as soon as they saw who it they turned back to their work. She was always this loud.
"Nickolas! He is the CEO of this company! You don't know him!" She shouted again
I shook my head from right to left then left to right continuously.
"Okay, remind me to tell you about Nick in lunch break. By the way you are late again." She pointed a finger at me
"I know. There was so much..."
"Don't give that crap about traffic and all! I know it's a lie. You are late for the third time in this week and it's Thursday today. But I'll let it slide" she said walking past me to the elevator next to the one I came in.
I looked at the sight above the elevator that was saying "PRIVATE"
Hmm I wonder why did the CEO of the company allow me to take a ride of lift with him. Wait a minute!  Oh shot! I just complained about my boss to the big boss. He is so gonna for me. But wait. He didn't even see my face so I can deny that it wasn't me who was in the lift with him and some other person used my identity. And he had ear buds stuffed in his ears. I shrugged the thoughts and walked to my table.
"Rach, late again" Zara smiled at me. She was personal assistant of our boss, Mr Norman. He is an old forty years old man who flirts with every girl that talks to him. If not for this job I would have kicked him for what he had done to me a week ago. "Anyways, Mr Norman is calling you to his cabin. See what that perv wants and if things go out of hand, you shout"

Everyone in floor knew what he was but didn't dare go against him because he knew the CEO very personally. What was his name again?

Nick?
Yeah, something like that.
I'll call him Mr Snake!
