With A Rose In Her Hair, She Lives On

Izumi's Diary:  Year 854, 27th of September. Time is 5:30.

I-I can't believe he kissed me! W-Was he trying to tell me his feelings or was it something else?! Well, I turned 18 at the stroke of midnight....and my aunt always told me age doesn't matter for dating when you turn this old...was he trying to ask me out? I should probably wait and see until later. I better try and get the most sleep I can before---oh, the bell for breakfast just rang. Nevermind.

     Izumi pulls her feet to the edge of the bed, puts her journal down, and stands up. The sunlight beating in through the window burns her eyes and she groans, stretching her back. She grabs her 3DMG straps and uniform so she can change out of her pajamas. Right as she finished putting on her 3DMG straps, a knock sounds at her door. A familiar voice rung through the door. "Oi, brat. Get up, breakfast's ready and it's about to be served." he said. She grabbed her jacket, put it on, then opened the door to see Captain Levi waiting silently.

       I saw the captain waiting for me outside my door and he smirks. I walked with him to the mess hall and he asked if I'd like to sit with him this morning. My eyes widen and glimmer as I smiled widely and nodded. He replies with the classic "tch" and nods. We sat down with Erwin and Hanji at that table. I took a bite of my bread and Hanji gives the creepiest smile I have EVER  seen...it nearly made me choke just seeing it. Levi even showed a bit of confusion at her expression. I finished my meal and dashed out. As I rushed towards Erwin's office (where they asked me to meet them after breakfast today), I heard that familiar voice call my name...but it sounded like it was full of worry.

    Minutes later, she sat with Erwin in his office, accompanied by Levi (of course). He takes a seat and then Erwin begins to speak. " Captain Levi and I have spoken about a certain matter concerning yourself, Miss Schmidt...just relax, you're not in trouble. Do you understand?"

She nodded in reply, silently. She notices Captain Levi shifting, showing NO signs of anxiety. She couldn't blame him for being a bit anxious about things.

"Well, let me explain. You know what, I think he should speak to you about this. I'm going to go supervise the other cadets...excuse me." Erwin steps out and closes the door. Levi sighs and sits in front of her in Erwin's chair. "What did you need to speak to me about, Levi?" she said.

He looks normal on the outside, but he's trying to keep a steady face.

Oh god oh god oh god, how am I going to say this to her? Damn it Erwin, you sneaky bastard.

I took an unsteady breath and sat in front of her, trying not to let my emotions show on my sleeves. "What did you need to speak to me about, Levi?" she said. That did not help my anxiousness one single bit. She's the most amazing cadet I've ever known and I want to tell her how I feel....without ruining my image of being Humanity's Strongest Soldier, that is. I've got to remember what she told me...we do get afraid but if we talk about how we feel, it means we are very brave as well...this is my chance.

"I....I've been meaning to ask ya this for awhile now...w-will you--" I said before getting interrupted by a brush of a hand against mine. My cheeks flare up beyond my control and she sighs, smiling and giving a nod of confirmation; red softly dusted over her own cheeks...

     Levi and Izumi were about to share a kiss when Hanji bursts in with Erwin carrying data about stuff they learned from the titans. Both she and Levi scooted away from each other quickly, trying to hide their blushed faces. Erwin announces an expedition starting soon. Hanji says that all of Squad Levi would be going, including Eren and herself. After the meeting, Levi and Izumi walk out of Erwin's office. They decide to get their horses and go riding. When they stop in the forest near a lake, they sit down and talk. They chatted for awhile...then heard a loud roar of an incoming titan; an Abnormal one at that. They ride back and the titan does not chase them for long....but Izumi suffered a great shock and she collapsed like an opossum.
