Levi laid in his room, hands in his hair and head hanging low. He had just been told that Izumi had gone into a coma shortly after what Kirschtein had done to her, so he was in a foul mood. He kept slamming things against walls and losing his composure around the cadets when she was mentioned. A cadet or two suffered injuries that would haunt them for weeks. One of them being Kirschtein himself...he suffered a broken ribcage and sprained wrist. Levi gave no mercy until Erwin dragged him away.

He walks into the infirmary room where she lays, unmoving and quiet as always. He holds her pale, cold hand....and lays his head on her chest, hoping to hear a heartbeat once more. He heard a heartbeat that was faint, but still there...tears stroked his cheeks as he began to softly cry...a muffled cry for help. A cry for something lost...a cry full of unneeded regrets...a cry for the one he cared for most to wake up and give him the smile he needed most right at that moment.

Jean looks into the room and sees the troubled Captain with the cadet he had hated with an unbroken passion until she went into her coma. Jean saw the tears coming from his eyes, his usually unfeeling eyes...their emotional barricades finally broken by a heart-wrenching devastation.

Jean suddenly felt a pang of realization...that what he did to her shattered someone usually very strict and sent them crumbling down like Wall Maria. He had shattered...Captain Levi himself.

The Captain looks down, his steel-grey eyes turning slightly blue as tears kept falling. His eyes are wide as they both witness the most amazing thing. Izumi opens her teal blue eyes and gazes to him.

A soft, weak smile lights up on her face. A smile breaks onto Levi's face and he hugs her tight, holding her close. Her eyes soften and she holds him as he audibly cries. She smiles and nuzzles into his neck, calming Levi down.

"I'm home, Levi..."
