Levi picks Izumi up off of the ground, and puts her back onto her horse (which is named Dirk). He walks up to the horse and puts a letter in Dirk's reins. "Dirk, get her to HQ and show the letter to Erwin. The letter must reach him. I'll fight it off, hurry before you are killed. You know who is who, right?" Levi asked. The horse neighs and slightly nods. Levi slaps the horse's flank and the horse goes running back to HQ with the precious cargo. "Okay you disgusting pig...COME AND GET ME!" he shouts before shooting straight up into the air in a cloud of gas.

Minutes later, Izumi's horse arrives; neighing loudly. Eren grabs Izumi and rushes her inside. The horse trots to Commander Erwin and turns its face, revealing the letter from Levi to him. He grabs it, opens it, and reads. He lowers the paper and pets the horse, giving it an apple. He shouts for his horse and some of Levi's Squad Members.

[Levi POV]

I watched as the horse ran back with Izumi secured to his back. My horse waits in a safe place as I fight this abnormal titan. A little while later, I hear the sound of horses coming towards my location and take a look. Erwin is riding with some of my squad (Eren is not present) following...holding the letter. My god, that horse of hers actually understood me and fulfilled the mission. I was caught off guard by the titan and smacked out of the air...but Hanji caught me somehow. They attached me to my horse and it ran back to HQ...I must have blacked out as we were approaching because I heard a neigh and felt myself flying off, crashing into something and that's when it all went black.

----------------------

Levi crashes into the castle wall when his horse, Shadow, goes flying and lands near the stables; unharmed. The battle continues until Hanji captures the titan and takes it into the experiment area to test it. They notice Levi out cold and Erwin picks him up. Izumi hears the quarreling and wakes up with a huge headache. She looks in the mirror and her head is wrapped up. Hanji walks her into the experiment lab as Levi is brought into the infirmary to get patched up. When she returns, she sees them wrapping his ankle and shoulder up. His face is slightly cut, but they put a bandage on the wound.

[Izumi]

I walked back into the infirmary and saw them patching up what seemed to be a really beat Levi. Funny that you mention it, he was waking up as they were wrapping his ankle. He opened his raven blue-grey eyes and looked to me. I walked over and held his hand warmly...he rolled a thumb over the top of my hand and smirked, although I can clearly see he's in pain. They put his boot back on with a brace over it, and he stood up. I helped him walk into the mess hall to get some tea and ice for his shoulder. When we arrived, Erwin helped him over to his seat and Eren came out holding a nice cake. I had almost forgotten...it was still my birthday. I sat with Levi and we both grabbed some cake before the others devoured the rest.

I took a bite and my eyes showed me a story I long forgot. It was a flashback of when my mother died. She was crushed in the schoolhouse while I was out at the pastures with the students on the day Shiganshina fell. I was 12 at the time. The kids ran to their parents and they boarded. I, unfortunately, was left behind. My aunt came to my rescue and brought me to Trost...and made me a chocolate cake like this one.

------------------

I woke up, apparently after passing out at the taste of that cake. It was so good~~<3

Anyways, I looked over to Levi...he was asleep, so I poked his cheek to wake him. It worked...and I could have sworn I saw his pupils dilate. He sat up quickly and his face went pale. I looked at him and smiled. I held his hand...he asked me again if we wanted to be a thing.

I said to him: "Yes, I'd love to...." ...and I smiled.

Nobody ever saw this, but he was just beaming.
