Dan

"So, Dan... Kelsey?" Kyle wriggled his eyebrows at me as we sat down on our sleeping bags.

"So, Kyle... Lexi?" I retaliated. Kyle looked shocked as Will and Woody started laughing. "Yeah, I see how you look at her."

Kyle rolled his eyes as Woody spoke up. "No, but seriously, Dan. Kelsey. What do you think of her?"

"She's cool, why?"

"Because you totally like her."

"No..." I tried to deny it. But I knew that I really did like her. She was wicked cool and nice. And I think she liked me. That never happens.

"Yes you do, stop trying to be the shy introvert," Will frowned. "Come on, we're all friends here. Tell us what you think of her."

"Fine! She's really awesome and I like talking to her."

"Ha! You do like her!" Kyle flung an accusing finger in my face.

"Okay, fine! So what if I do?"

"Well, you're screwed," Kyle leaned back against the tent.

"Why?"

"We're going back home soon, Dan. How will that work?"

"I don't know," I frowned. "Do you really have to bring this up?"

"What were you going to do?"

"I don't know. I hadn't even thought that far ahead!"

"Okay, okay. Calm down. We'll just see what her situation is," Will shrugged.

"Yeah," I nodded, an unusual gust of wind blowing past our tent. That's weird. I thought to myself. We've been out here for days and there hasn't been one breath of wind. I dismissed the thoughts. They weren't important. "So, Kyle, you never answered my question about Lexi. What do you think of her?"

"She's beautiful," Kyle admitted flat out. "I'm not even going to lie or deny it. She's really attractive."

"See, Dan, that's how you should've handled it," Woody sneered.

"Oh, fuck off, mate," I rolled my eyes.

"Come on, make a move! See if you can get a date with her before we go back to England."

"We'll see," I reluctantly admitted. Will, Woody, and Kyle shared a look of amusement with each other before looking back at me. "What?" I frowned.

"Nothing," Woody laughed. "Get some sleep. Tomorrow's the last day of the festival. Then we'll get them to show us around, how about that?"

"Sounds great to me," Will nodded, settling down in his sleeping bag.

"I second that," Kyle raised his hand a little before he laid down.

"It's settled. That's the plan for the next few days. We just need to see where those girls lead us," Woody raised his eyebrows before he, too, dropped backwards in his sleeping bag.

I was the only one left sitting up. I stayed like that for what seemed like a long time until I eventually just stood up and walked out of the tent. A walk just seemed nice to me for some reason. There wasn't anything in particular that was bothering me, there was just a nagging feeling eating away at the back of my mind. It was just a weird feeling that I can't really explain.

As I was walking, I passed by Kelsey's tent. I thought about seeing if she was awake and ask her if she wanted to walk with me, but decided against the idea. I'd feel like such a jerk if I woke her up on accident. So, I continued on, stuffing my hands in my pockets.

I didn't have anywhere in particular that I was going, I just walked where my feet took me. Turns out, my feet went to the edge of the woods, which were really creepy at night. There weren't many stars out and neither was the moon, so the shadows seemed bigger and more menacing. I wasn't usually creeped out by things like this, but this forest really got me.

"Dan?" I turned and saw Lexi walking towards me. "Dan, what are you doing?"

How did she know I was out here? I thought to myself momentarily before I looked back at her. "Oh, I was just going for a walk," I shrugged.

"In the woods? At this time of night? Come on..."

"No, I'm serious. I just went where my feet took me."

"Okay, whatever you say," Lexi rolled her eyes, looking around worriedly at the trees. "Why don't you go back to your tent?" Lexi motioned frantically for me to follow her. Why was she so worried?

I nodded and trailed along beside her. We walked in silence. It wasn't that we didn't want to talk, I just had nothing to bring up for us to discuss.

"So, what made you go there?" She eventually broke the silence.

"I already told you, I don't know. I just walked where my feet took me."

"You have to have some destination in mind!" Lexi raised an eyebrow.

She was right. You have to have some kind of direction to know where you're going. "I don't know, it just seemed right to go to the woods, even if they're creepy this late at night."

"Okay, makes sense," Lexi nodded. Something about her seemed off. I'm not sure what it was, but I didn't like it.

"What's wrong?" I asked rather abruptly when we got back to our tents. I didn't mean for it to sound that blunt, it just came out like that.

"What? Nothing. Why do you ask?" Lexi stopped and turned to face me, her eyes widening slightly before she shook her head.

"No reason, just wondering. You seem like something's bothering you. But it's fine if you don't want to talk about it," I nodded and dropped the subject even though I still wasn't completely convinced. It was clear to me that she didn't want to talk about it and I wasn't going to press her if she didn't want to talk.

Lexi looked like she was going to say something when Kyle stuck his head out of the tent and looked at us. "Hey, what's going on out here?"

"Nothing, I just went for a walk and Lexi came to get me before I walked into the woods," I shrugged.

"Well, I'm glad she got you before anything could attack you," Kyle laughed a little, bringing his hands out of the opening too and holding them next to his face as he made them look like claws. Lexi shifted uncomfortably when he said that. Okay. Another suspicious thing. I wonder what's up with her.

"Well, good night, you guys," Lexi smiled suddenly. She quickly ducked inside her tent without another word or warning.

I looked at the spot where she disappeared for a moment before walking over to Kyle. "Is she acting weird to you too?"

"Yeah, I wonder what's up. Did you ask?"

"She didn't want to talk about it."

"I wonder if something happened between her and Kelsey. They seem close."

"True, I hope it wasn't anything bad."

"Yeah," Kyle nodded. "Well, it's late, Dan. Come on, you need sleep," Kyle motioned for me to come into the tent before he disappeared. I took one look back at the girls' dark tent before I ducked behind the tent flap to go to sleep.
