Kelsey

When our little caravan of cars pulled into my gravel driveway, I was practically scratching at the window of the car to get out like a dog would do to a door. The others in the car noticed it, too. But, no one dared to bring up.

As soon as the I could see my house in the distance, I unlocked my door and jumped out. I don't recommend it to normal people, so don't try it at home. I landed hard on my feet, but kept going. Mom was standing out on the front porch to welcome us back home.

"How was it?" she asked as I ran up and gave her a huge hug.

"Great, but I need to talk to you about something."

"Is it the four boys getting out of the second car?"

"No, but I do need to talk to you about that."

"We'll discuss the other thing later, right now I want to know about them."

"Yes, ma'am," I lowered my head to avoid my mom's eye contact.

"Okay, who are they?"

"They're some really nice English guys we met there and they offered us the tent space next to them." Lexi walked up to us and spoke for me. "They're not a threat, I promise. They've never been to America before, so we just want to show them around."

"And you offered them a place to stay? Here? Are you sure they're not a threat?" Mom looked cautiously over at them as they talked with Rose and Celeste. Dan kept looking in my direction out of the corner of his eye, but immediately looking away because of the glare my mother was giving them.

"Mom, they're fine. I promise!" I frowned up at my mother.

"Fine. If Lexi doesn't think they're a threat, and Rose and Celeste are clearly fine with them, they can stay here," Mom rolled her eyes and walked away from the house, but not before telling me one last thing. "If you pull this again, there will be hell to pay. I don't want strange men in my house without my permission first. I'm sorry to have to set that rule, but I don't want to take any chances." And with that, she was gone, walking down the steps of the porch to greet our guests.

I took a deep breath and looked over at Lexi. "Maybe our 'perfect family' isn't as perfect as it seems," she shrugged. That has always been our joke, to say we have a perfect family. But we couldn't be farther from the truth.

"Oh, shut up," I muttered under my breath.

"Come on, let's make sure your mom doesn't kill them." Lexi grabbed my arm and started dragging me along with her.

Mom was surprisingly nice to the guys when she met them, which I was extremely thankful for. She actually seemed to get along with them. So things actually went even better than I expected. Mom even gave them two extra rooms we had and the extra blankets so they could sleep comfortably until they decided to leave for England once more. I went with the guys to their rooms to help them unpack and get the sheets on their beds, the normal stuff.

"So, you really live out here? In the middle of nowhere?" Kyle asked as I helped him make his bed. He and Dan were sharing a room and Dan had insisted that Kyle take the bed. I managed to find our emergency air mattresses for Dan and Woody to use.
