Kelsey

I stopped as soon as the peak of the house came into view. My anxiety was at a breaking point. I was so scared to find what was inside.

"She's not dead, by the way," Lukas said quietly. "She was fine the last time I saw her."

"I figured it was a lie. I knew you wouldn't say something like that to my face that harshly," I sighed.

"Let's go," Lexi said quietly. She put her hand on my shoulder and silently walked around me.

Rose stopped her though. "Wait. We need to release the glamour."

"That explains why the guys you were talking about didn't say anything about your teeth..." Lukas chuckled to himself as he closed his eyes and removed his own glamour. That was one of the things that full blooded werewolves can do that I wished I could.

"What?" I almost snapped too harshly. My hand flew up to my mouth and I realized he was right. "Oh, my god..." I muttered.

"It's fine. You'll need them where we're going." Lukas twisted around and smiled sympathetically at me.

"Whatever, let's just go." I started walking without them. Lexi rushed past me, her wings stretched out.

"It's nice to finally stretch!" Celeste giggled as she and Lexi stopped for a moment.

I calmed my nerves as I rounded the corner of brush to finally get a good look at the house. Well, house was an understatement. This was a mansion. Although it definitely looked as though it'd been abandoned for many years, it looked well kept, all things considered. The paint was only chipping off around the corners and the windows. All the windows were busted out and pieces of decomposing cloth lay in the lawn with discarded furniture.

"Why are there no wolves out here?" Rose whispered urgently. "You'd think they'd be waiting for us."

"Yeah, this is weird," I whispered back quietly and continued walking.

We walked through the open front door, which was definitely a trap. The inside of the house was in worse shape. Wallpaper was peeling off the walls, well, at least the little bit that hadn't been torn off was peeling off the walls. The ceiling looked like it'd caved in at some point and then hastily repaired with plywood. The room we were currently in was a giant foyer with double curved staircases leading around the semicircular walls before meeting at a little balcony of sorts in the middle of the second floor. In the middle of the room, tied up in a chair, sat my mother. She was bloody and looked like someone was trying to bleed her out. Around her mouth was a cloth gag and a blindfold was tied around her eyes.

"Stay away, you bastards!" Mom spat as we walked in, the floorboards creaking under our weight.

"It's me, Mom. We're here to save you," I said, looking around for the wolves I knew had to be here.

"That was a stupid idea. You should've just left while you could!" Mom sounded pained.

"I couldn't just leave you here!" I frowned. No one else had stepped forward. Where could they be?

"Dad! Please! I need help!" Lukas called out. "They've got me!"

A deep chuckle, almost to the point of a growl, echoed through the hall. My mom stiffened, struggling a little more. All around us, wolves stepped out of the shadows snarling at us. Mason was right in front of me. He walked up to Mom and used his claw to cut open her restraints. As the ropes that bound her to the chair fell to the ground, so did the blindfold and gag. Her eyes widened as she was jerked upward by her ex and put in a chokehold.
