"Daddy, why did you marry mummy?" Your six year old daughter asked, staring up at Calum with the same chocolate brown eyes he possessed.
"What do you mean, munchkin?" he asked, reaching down and picking up your daughter before sitting on the sofa and placing her in his lap. "Megan's mummy and daddy got married because Megan was born. Is that why you and mummy got married?"
"No, you were born after we got married, munchkin"
"Then why did you marry her?" she asked, cocking her head to the side.
"Infinite reasons" he replied, a smile working its way onto his face.
"Like what daddy?"
"Like how funny she was, how kind she was, her smile, the cute little things she said, the way she looked when she was asleep and how she could always make me smile. Those are just a few" Calum listed, his smile growing bigger at the memory of your own.
"Do you miss her, daddy?" your daughter asked. Calum's smile faded slightly as he processed the question.
"Yes, I miss her. I miss her a lot." Calum admitted to his daughter, looking back into her wide eyes.
"Are you still happy without her, daddy?" your daughter asked quietly, looking down at her hands.
"Yes, munchkin, I'm still happy even though she's gone" your daughter looked back up into Calum's eyes.
"Why?"
"Infinite reasons, one of which is you"
