This has nothing to do with suicide or depression

Michael couldn't decide what to do when he saw you sitting across the cafe from him, a year after he promised himself that he'd never talk to you again.
You and Michael had been in love, so much so that you'd both drifted away from others in order to be closer to each other. You were each other's drug - starting off with a little bit, then a bit more here and there and then BAM! the two of you were addicts.
Everything in your lives was perfect - you two had the same group of friends so you didn't have to worry about your friends not liking your choice in partner, you had found a decent apartment for a small price, you were both chasing your dreams and you had the perfect relationship with each other.
But, neither of you realised that your addiction was going to ruin you both, as most addictions do.
After a year of moving in with each other, the two of you had been reduced to shells of yourselves. You mostly stayed in, hanging out with each other and not going out when invited. If one of you moved from the bedroom to the lounge, then the other would follow.
It was as if the two of you would die if you couldn't reach out and touch each other at any moment.
Michael could still remember the day that Luke forced his way into the apartment when Michael had reluctantly got out of bed and opened the door, leaving you asleep in the bedroom.
"What do you want, Luke? y/n's asleep."
"Michael, we need to talk. About y/n, actually." Luke said, pulling Michael down onto the sofa, neither boy noticing that you were lingering in the doorway of your bedroom, listening to every word.
"What about her?"
"Your relationship with her is great. You're deeply in love with each other and you're so close... but maybe a little too close."
"What are you on about?"
"What I'm on about is the fact that you're so dependent on each other that you've both turned into the 15 year old Michael who refused to leave his room! Seriously Mikey, it's not healthy for either of you! You'll develop social issues and won't be able to interact with anybody but her. You didn't even come to the annual dinner that our friendship group has held every year since year 11. And, you're even considering turning down the opportunity to go on tour with one DIRECTION. Hell, y/n's already turned down her place at the university she's dreamt about going to for years! Can't you see that this relationship is destroying you both?!" Michael was silent, thinking it over in his head.
It was true - Michael and you had started to refuse offers to go out and neither of you bothered to attend social events if the other wasn't bothered. You two acted like all you needed was each other, and neither of you had realised it until Luke had thrown the harsh truth in your faces.
Your relationship was a drug, and it needed to end before you overdosed.
Before either boy could say anything else, they heard a bang. Confused, Michael got up and walked to the bedroom to see if you'd made the noise, however when he got there he saw something he wasn't expecting.
Drawers were open, the wardrobe doors too, clothes strewn everywhere, your things ransacked and your suitcase gone. "LUKE!" Michael screamed out, his best friend running to him and taking in the scene that Michael had seen. Luke knew what had happened - you'd heard the conversation and left, knowing you were holding Michael back.
Michael tried to run past Luke to go after you, but Luke pulled him back and into his arms. "Let her go Michael. You both need this. I know you love her, but it's destroying you both. She knows this and she left because she loves you. Don't go after her, you'll ruin both her lives if you do" Michael sniffed and stopped fighting Luke, collapsing into his arms as tears fell from his cheeks.
Michael snapped out of his flashback, getting up from his seat and turning around before making his way to the exit.
You were a drug he couldn't afford to get hooked on again, because he was pretty sure that this time, he would overdose.
