Recently a phrase had been frequently passed between you and Michael, said with lots of different emotions, with lots of different meanings.
"I swear this is the last time."
Grumpiness
"Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Mi-"
"What?! What, y/n, what what what?!" Michael replied, his voice sounding husky as he'd just woken up.
"Hello" Michael groaned and pushed your face away from his, before shrinking back into your sofa. "Can I ask why you're sleeping on my sofa?" You asked, kneeling in front of him and poking his face.
"Because I couldn't go home drunk" Michael grumbled.
"You're lucky my parents didn't see you. I swear to god Michael, if you come round my house drunk and sleep on the sofa one more time-"
"I swear this is the last time" Michael said "Now can you either go away or cuddle with me please?" you sighed and got onto the sofa, feeling Michael pull you into his body as you reached for the blanket on the back of the sofa then draped it over the two of you. "What happened anyway, Michael?" you asked.
"Nothing" he grunted.
"Michael..."
"Can we just drop it, please? Not in the mood" Michael growled, burying his face in the back of your neck. You sighed and rolled over, wrapping your arms around Michael and pulling him closer. "Grumpy Mikey isn't my favourite Mikey"
"Oh yeah? And annoying y/n isn't my favourite y/n. Just sleep" Michael snapped, pulling you closer. You sighed but closed your eyes anyway, wondering what happened to get Michael in this mood.
Determination
You walked into school, determined to find Michael to talk to him.
Since the day he'd slept on the sofa at your house when he was drunk, he'd been distant from you. He hadn't bothered to talk to you, he'd ignored your texts and calls, he didn't open the door when you went round his and knocked for him, he refused to acknowledge your existence when you smiled at him, looking through the window of your car as he walked to his house and he hadn't bothered to show up for movie nights.
And Michael loved movie nights.
Now the holidays were over, you could finally confront him at school.
He couldn't escape.
You managed to spot his brightly coloured hair as you walked through the school gates and marched your way over to him, determination fixed on your face.
"Michael?" you called once you were stood behind him, however Michael continued to talk to his friends Luke, Calum and Ashton, pretending to not notice you were there.
"Michael" you said, tapping him on the shoulder.
Again, you were ignored.
"Michael please listen to me, you're being childish. I just want to talk to-"
"Well maybe I don't want to talk to you ever again. I swear this is the last time"
Pain smashed through your chest and tore your heart into pieces as you sucked in a sharp breath and turned around, not letting tears fall from your eyes as you walked away.
I can't give up yet. You thought Michael didn't mean what he said.
Giddiness
It had been two weeks since you tried to confront Michael and you still hadn't given up. You were going to find out what was going on, even if it was the last thing you'd ever do.
