"Am I supposed to act surprised?" I questioned Louie, bending forward to tie the lace of my black platform boots again. He laughed.
"Manny worked hard on this," he responded. I sighed as we started to walk up the stairs to the apartment.
"Fine," I said. I unlocked the door and pushed it open.
"SURPRISE!" Everyone yelled. I tried to act as shocked as possible.
"Oh my goodness, I never expected this," I said, slightly sarcastically. My mom glared at me.
"Kari Lynn, you be nice. Manny did a nice thing for you," she said. I walked over and hugged Manny.
"Thank you," I said. She smiled.
"You're welcome," she responded and the party began. I took a seat on the couch and was soon joined by my mother.
"Happy birthday sweetheart," she said, hugging me.
"Thanks, mom," I said. She smiled.
"So, Manny was telling me you stayed at Mr. Delicious' house last night." My jaw dropped. Did my mom really just call Chris that?
"Did you really just call him that?" I asked. She laughed as Kuza sat on the other side of me.
"She's been calling him that since she got here," he said. My mom laughed.
"That's so weird," I said. What did I tell you? My mom's extraordinary.

"This is the last one," Manny said, handing me a small box, wrapped in black paper with little purple bats on them. I ripped the paper off and pulled the lid off. It held a necklace with a small heart pendant, with an onyx gem. I gasped.
"Wow," I whispered. "Who's this from?"
"Me," Chris said from behind me. I looked at him.
"Thank you," I said, earning a smile from him. "It's beautiful."
Manny helped me put it on and I grinned. I would definitely show him my appreciation later.

This update isn't the greatest but I thought it would be fun. Something funny to mention is that my mom doesn't actually call Chris Mr. Delicious, but my grandma does, that's where I got the idea. Anyways, I might put up another update today. I haven't decided yet.(:
