She looked at him intensely. Something about they way he looked at that file told her a lot. The way he read every word like it gave him proof about everything it said. The way he took it all in like it was the last time he was going to see it. "Mulder," she said, "Why are so interested in this case. All it is is a woman helplessly saying she was abducted by extraterrestrial life forms back in the 60s."
"Because," Mulder stated still staring at the files," There is so much detail, so much proof that everything I've been saying is true, that I have to be hopeful."
She just looked down and pondered what he just said, "You know what," she looked at him briefly, "How do you believe all of this when there is no hard proof, nothing that can be truly justified?"
"Because when you have seen the things that I have seen, the things that can't be explained, the things that make you truly think, and the things that you are open to hearing people theories about, the most logical thing sounds right."
She sighed, "Fine, lets go and have a look."
As they traveled to the airport they were silent. She was afraid to make a sound. Not for the fear of him, she trusted him more than anyone else in the world (for the 6 years they had known each other), for the fear that she might reck his hope. She decided to let him find that out himself, though she hated seeing him hurt. Quite a few times, it seemed, he had the dreams of this "alien", this UFO, that to her knowing did not exist, thrown away, thrown into that grave he had dug for those dreams. She decided to let him have his fun with this one.
