Mulder looked conflicted as he drove down the highway. She just looked at him wondering why, or she should say how, he believed. She didn't tell him all the details about her parents reck or about he brother. She didn't tell him about the lights or about the wind. But she knew he had known that from the moment she had told him. "About my parents reck or whatever," she looked at Mulder as he focused on the road,"when the cops took me there they weren't searching for my brother. Somehow I knew he was out in the woods even if I was only four. So I ran into the woods and I saw something." Mulder looked at her.
"What did you see," Mulder looked off the road.
"Eyes on the road!" She yelled smiling, "I saw three lights and it felt like the wind was, I don't know, pulling me up."
Mulder smiled and grabbed a hand full of sunflower seeds. "Do you know how to eat these," he grinned as she took some.
"As a matter of fact I do," she looked at him and smiled a smile that was secretive,"I've played softball, basket ball, and volleyball for as long as I can remember. My parents used to say I was born with a ball in my hand." She put one in her mouth and spit out the shell in the cup sitting in between them.
Mulder smiled and looked in the rear view mirror as his smile faded. "Hold on" he said putting his hand across her stomach bracing for impact.
A car drove to the side of them and sideswiped them. Rolling them into the ditch. The windshield broke into a million pieces as the airbags deployed sending them both into the backs of their seats. Shards of glass hit her in the face as they landed on their side.
   Then everything went black.
