*Zoey POV*
Seeing Lisa so sad was heart wrenching, I had rarely seen her crying. What was it about? I guess it was related to Bruce. She never told me how and why they broke up, but I deduced that whatever the reason was, it was pretty bad.
She finally calmed down, and I suggested that she should take a nap, she had had a long day. She obeyed and laid down, I tucked the covers and closed the door of her room.
I was not convinced that she was completely okay, she would still be kinda sad when she woke up. I couldn't bear to see that, I had to do something. I see that she's smitten with Zayn, well not completely, but close. Maybe it would help to call Zayn over for some time, at least till dinner. I hoped with all my heart that he wouldn't be busy. I retrieved my phone from the couch and realised that I didn't have his number.
"Hello, Niall?"
"Zoey! What's up?"
"Could you text me Zayn's number? I kind of need it right now."
"Sure, I will. What happened though?"
"I will tell you later maybe." He wanted to know, but it was not the time to explain stuff.
"Um okay then, anything else you wanted to say?", he asked hopefully. He really didn't want to hang up. We talked a lot normally and it must've seemed odd to him that I called him just for Zayn's number.
"Nah, I should get going, I have stuff to do now."
"Well then, bye, love!" He hung up. I wanted to go out with him again soon. He's such a nice and cheerful lad. And not to mention, he's damn cute.
Two minutes later, I received a text from Niall with Zayn's number. I decided what I would tell him. Lisa would probably be mad at me, for bothering Zayn, but I had to do it.
"Hello?"
"Zayn? This is Zoey!"
"Oh hi! What's happening?"
"I wonder if you could come over to our flat now?"
There was a pause for some time. "Yeah I could, but why though?"
"I need your help with something."
"What is it?"
"Lisa is kinda very upset, because of some reason. I thought maybe you could help me cheer her up, she seems to really like you."
His tone immediately changed. "Yeah I'll be there in like half an hour, okay?"
"Thanks Zayn, bye! See you."
One job was done. I had to think of what we could possibly do to lighten her mood. She loved food, just like me. I could prepare something nice for her. I needed to get her mind off of Bruce, and Zayn would be here for that. I was broken from my train of thoughts as my phone started ringing. It was Zayn. I answered the call.
"Zoey, is it okay if I bring Liam with me? I was out with him and Danny. Danny left in his car, but Liam came with me. It would take a lot of time if I drop him off first and then go."
"I guess it's fine, just come over. Maybe he could help too."
"Okay then, see you in twenty, bye!"
I hadn't met Liam before but I knew that he was a very nice lad. I couldn't wait to meet him, but the circumstances under which we were meeting made it kinda odd.
Twenty five minutes later, I found Liam and Zayn sat on our sofa, and I was on the couch. I still couldn't think of anything to do. Liam was a quite friendly boy, just as I had expected. He gave me a big hug, just after I opened the door!
I left them in the living room to come up with something, while I went to the kitchen to prepare something for dinner. I wasn't as much of a cook as Lisa, but I was decent.
I decided on spaghetti bolognese, she loved that. As I was halfway through making it, I heard a yelp from Lisa's room. I rushed upstairs, Zayn and Liam trailing behind me.
I threw open the door, and found her still asleep. She was having one of her nightmares. She never told me the reason, or what she saw in them. What was I supposed to do? She was muttering under her breath, in her sleep.
I walked over to her bed, and shook her. She didn't wake up or even budge.
"Lis! Wake up!" I was getting really worried. Liam was behind me, with his hand on my shoulder. Zayn was sitting on the bed beside me, his mouth slightly hanging open.
"Look who's here!" I attempted again, while shaking her shoulders. She finally woke up, beads of sweat glistening on her forehead. She looked at me, fearfully. Then her eyes wandered and she saw Zayn, and finally Liam. Her eyes widened, and she looked at me questioningly.
"They came over because I invited them." I answered her. I didn't want to go into the details. She still looked shaken.
Zayn spoke up. "Guys, can you leave us for a moment? We'll join you downstairs in five minutes", he spoke firmly. I was startled, but happy too. I just hoped he could work things out.
Liam gave Zayn a pat on the back, before we headed downstairs.
*Lisa POV*
I was so shaken, I could feel sweat running down my face. Zoey and Liam left to go downstairs, and to say that I was confused would be an understatement.
Why couldn't Bruce leave me alone, even when I slept? I got nightmares because of him most of the time, I never confided it to anyone.
Zayn sat beside me, and put his arms round my shoulders. We sat still for some time, with his arms around me. It soothed me, it felt so right. It was a comfortable silence, and I felt at peace. He finally broke the silence.
"Babe, who was it?"
What was he asking about? He certainly couldn't guess that it as because of a specific person, right?
I was tired of hiding these things. I wanted to talk to someone about it. I couldn't tell Zoey about all of this, because I didn't want her to think I was weak. I was supposed to be strong for her. She would be appalled if she knew about it.
"Bruce." Saying that name out loud made me shudder.
"What did he do?" He was speaking calmly, but firmly. One of his hands was around me, and the other combed through my long hair.
"He cheated on me." I didn't want to repeat this, but I felt that telling him would make my heart and head lighter.
He didn't push me further relieve the details, maybe he could sense I didn't want to talk about it right then.
"Do you want me to hurt him?" he asked seriously, his eyes boring into my mine, in the dimly lit surrounding. My heart fluttered for some reason. He cared for me.
"No. It's fine, I guess I have to stop holding on to past occurrences." I always admitted myself to believe it, but it never worked.
"Okay, but tell me if you ever need me, okay? I'm always here for you."
He kissed me. The familiar sparks were back, and my mood changed automatically. It soothed me, I felt light headed. My hands went up to tangle his hair, and his hands were on my face. He wiped my tears, not breaking the kiss for once. The need for air grew, and I broke off, breathing heavily.
I looked at him, and caught him staring at me. I remember that he admitted to liking me, and I wonder if it's true.
His eyes seemed to burn within my soul, reading my secrets. Maybe he couldn't, but it felt like that. I have never felt this way around a boy.
He held my hand, and helped me up from the bed. "Let's go downstairs, they'll be waiting." It was all he said, and I nodded. None of us talked about what just happened. He led me downstairs, and for some stupid reason, I felt like smiling widely. I was pretty sure there was a grin on my face. I looked at his face, and I swear I could catch a glimpse of a smile tugging at the corner of his lips too.
