Like the previous years, Draco and Hermione had both been in the libary a lot. But instead of ignoring each other, like they always had done, they started to help each other with their homework. Slowly they had started to enjoy the other's company and they had become friends.
That made for Draco the only friend he had that year because the other students were still not accepting him. They couldn't forget his death eater past.
Draco wasn't really bothered by that, Hermione was enough company for him. He felt safe when he was around her. It was as if no one could harm him in those moments. It was a great feeling that he'd never experienced before with any of his other friends.

They had become more and more close and by the end of the year they were almost inseparable.
When every student returned home, they had decided to write each other.
Draco loved her letters. They were so full of warmth and they always started with the words 'dear Draco'. Those two simple words always made him smile. Her letters made him feel less alone.

But all of the sudden, the letters had stopped coming. Draco didn't understand it. Had his last letter upset her? He couldn't imagine that.
Now, he was alone. Again.

Draco sighted. That was about two months ago.
He walked over to his friends, Pansy and Blaise had now both arrived. He heard them laughing. That sound filled his stomach with happiness.
Today was different. Today he wouldn't be alone.
