Draco had never felt this terrified before. It was like he wasn't able to functionate properly. He hadn't been able to think casual since he had sent the letter to Hermione.
What if she actually hated him? What if she closed her door right in front of him? What if the date was going to be a complete mess?
For one weird reason Draco just didn't think that he'd be able to handle such a rejection.
He wanted the date to be perfect. He knew that Hermione loved the outdoors so he had arranged a picnic for the two of them. He had spend the whole day creating the most delicious dishes which were now all carefully placed in the picnicbasket. He dressed himself up in a white blouse with some black jeans and some casual shoes and put some wax in his hair, just to give it a little more volume.
Draco was ready to go.
With the picnicbasket in his hand he apparated in front of the door of Hermione's appartment. He took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
There was no turning back now.
The two minutes waiting in front of that door were probably the most scary ones he had ever experienced. After those two minutes, the door opened and Draco breathed a sigh of relief.
But when Draco saw what Hermione looked like, he felt heartbroken. She looked like she hadn't slept and eaten well in weeks. She looked really skinny and pale. Her wide clothing looked dirty and old and she had blue circles under her eyes.
But it was her eyes that shocked Draco the most. There was absolutely nothing in it. No joy or wisdom. Not even anger or sadness. They were just completely empty.Draco didn't hesitate. He immedeately took her hand and apparated them to the park close to Hermione's appartment.
Hermione dind't even try to fight him off and that made him even sadder. They just walked in silence until it became slightly dark. That was when they sat down on a bench and Draco grabbed a litlle box with pasta out of the picnicbasket. He gave it to Hermione who took it from him and slowly started eating some of it. Draco didn't eat. He wasn't hungry.
After Hermione had finished her meal they just sat in complete silence. Watching the stars become brighter. After a while, Draco felt something against his shoulder. It was Hermione, she had fallen asleep.
Draco picked her up bridal style and started walking home carefully. He didn't want to wake her up by apparating. After ten minutes he had reached the appartment. He walked in, put the picnicbasket on the table and started walking towards the bedroom.
He laid Hermione on the bed, took away her shoes and socks and pulled the sheets over her. When he was done he looked at her face. She looked so peaceful now. Like there was absolutely nothing that was hurting her.
He was going to help her. Hopefully, she would improve.
He walked out of the bedroom and sat down on the couch. Thinking of things he could do to help her. After an hour of thinking, he fell asleep.---------------------------------------------------------
