Chapter Twenty One: Future's Uneasy

"You're going to what?!" Ruffnut exclaimed loudly making my ears pop out from her loudness. Some people glanced at us as they heard her exclaim but I reprimanded her by shushing at her. "Why would you do that?"

I sighed. "I don't have a choice," I mutter softly as I cross my arms. I look around the corner we were in to make sure no one heard.

"Bullsh*t," she hissed, curing at my choice. "You had a choice Astrid but you chose the wrong one." I rolled my eyes at her reaction to my choice.

"I chose the right one," I argued to her response. "The choice I made is not going to hurt me."

She scoffed and also rolled her eyes. "You're not going to do this, aren't you? Did you really choose this as final?" she asked, widening her eyes as she realised the reality.

I soften my posture, seeing her concern in her face. I slowly unfold my arms and sighed. "I already told my uncle," I answer to her questions. "The decision is made."

Her mouth was open to my answer. She doesn't talk for a moment, probably talking to herself for the reality to slap her on the choice I made. It was silent between us for a while whilst there were some noises behind us.

"Okay, can you at least talk?" I asked, pleading of what her reaction to this. "This is so much better to me. I get to start again. I have a fresh start and maybe the guy is not that hard to deal with."

Now she was the one who crossed her arms. "But what about Stormfly?" she asked. "She'll be alone if you leave and won't have a rider."

"I talked to them about it and they said they'll approve of me bringing Stormfly in," I answered, smiling softly that I know she was concerned more than Stormfly. "She'll be alright."

She sighed, knowing she won't have any point to argue. "What about me?" she pouted. Oh great, she's now using the me card. "I'll be back with these girly girls that doesn't even walk through fire like we do!"

I squint my eyes a little. "Ruff, we've never walked through fire before," I recalled.

"Well what if we want to and you're not here?" she retorted, raising her eyebrow. I rolled my eyes for the second time. "Wait, are you even going to tell Hiccup about this? You do know he's madly in love with you? You're going to break his heart."

I sighed loudly at her point. She had a good reason for me not to leave by using Hiccup but he is the main reason why I'm leaving. We heard a gust of wind opening a door but we paid no attention to it.

"Don't do this," she shook her head, sighing. "Breaking Hiccup's heart will not be in a good place to all of us when you leave."

I groaned in frustration. "What other choice do I have Ruffnut?!" I exclaimed, trying to take it quieter. "I've made my choice of leaving him, the contract is signed and I'll be gone by no later this afternoon."

She unfold her arms slowly like I did before. "So you're really going? No turning back?" she asked one more to make sure I was leaving.

I nod. "Yes," I confirm softly. "I'm leaving." We both fall back into that silence we had, knowing this might be our last conversation.

"Just on the left," I instruct the worker as he moves his dragon a bit on the left. "There you go. Now drop it slowly." He slowly unfold it and drop the log on the top of the house to finish the roof. I smiled. "Perfect."

The worker left after I thanked him. I then had a big hand slap my tiny shoulders, making me stumble forwards a bit but I regain my posture standing up. "This house looks great Hiccup," my dad, Stoick the Vast, complimented. "This would be a great house for you and Astrid."
