Chapter 22

Glitch's POV

Everyone headed outside to the beach volleyball courts to start the game. Some people put their towels on the hot sand and sit just to watch the game.

I, on the other hand, am kinda sort of being forced to play the game. I know I said that I wanted to play earlier but now I really don't. What Bodie said earlier really caught me off guard.

Anyways, we've been playing for a few hours now since we decided to do a tournament instead of a single game. My team which includes, me, Bodie, Little T, and Connor, are in the final round along with Mo's team which includes Emilia, Adam, and Harmony.

We are now half way through the game and our team is losing badly. Mainly because Mo's team has Emilia who has been playing ever since she was 10, and Harmony who has been on an actual beach volleyball team since she was in middle school. It's also kinda my fault because I keep zoning out and whenever I regain focus, it's too late and Mo's team ends up getting the point.

"Hey G" I hear Bodie say as he runs over to me. "Alright so I'm pretty sure you know that we're losing right? Or have you zone out too much that you don't even know what's going on anymore?"

"Haha" I say sarcastically. "I know what's going on Bodie. I know we are losing and it's mainly my fault since I keep zoning out"

"Okay good so I don't have to explain what's been going for half the game" Bodie says and I give him an annoyed look.

"I know you know how to play the game G, and I know you are pretty good at this. That's why I picked you to be on my team because I know that you can help us win but I need you to focus-"

"How can I focus when the person I love is on the other side of that net?"

"So you do love Harmony?"

"Yea I guess" I say and look down.

"G you're not the only one. The person I love is on the other side of that net as well but I'm not letting my feelings get in the way of everything else I'm doing" Bodie says. "Look so you know that Harmony likes to play beach volleyball right?"

"Yea she's been playing ever since she was in middle school" I say and look up at him again.

"Okay so remember how I told you earlier to try to impress her?" I slowly nod. "Okay so here's your chance. Adam is honestly not good at this game at all. If you focus on the game, you will be able to get her attention and you will have something to start a conversation with her after this"

"Okay so how do I stay focused?"

"Are you guys done talking about whatever you guys were talking about? I really just wanna play"

Me and Bodie turn around to face Harmony standing right behind the net looking at us. Harmony just talked to me and didn't say anything mean to me!!

"Yea hang on" Bodie said and looked back at me. "Okay so I'm gonna set the ball to you and you're gonna spike it okay?"

"Okay but what if I lose focus again?"

"Just pretend that you are in a competition or something. You become very focused when you compete" He said and walked back to his spot. I take a deep breathe and get ready to start playing again.

The game goes on for a few minutes then Bodie sets the ball towards me. I run over to the ball and spike it hard. But I didn't aim very well because instead of the ball hitting the sand, it ended up hitting Harmony right in the face causing her to fall down.

"Oh my gosh" I say and run over to Harmony, along with everyone else. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?"

"Are you okay shawty?" Adam says and kneels down next to her.

"I'm fine" Harmony says and sits up holding her nose. Oh no. That's not a good thing.

"Can you take-"

"Let me see your nose babe" Adam says completely interrupting me.

"Guys I'm fine" Harmony takes her hand of her nose, and I see that it's bleeding. Well she definitely noticed me now. 

"No your not babe" Adam says, "Your nose is bleeding"

"It is?" Harmony says and touches her nose to check. "Oh it is"

"You did this on purpose didn't you Glitch?" Adam says sounding angry and looking like he's ready to give me a bloody nose.

"What!? No! I didn't me-"

"Yes you did! You weren't even paying attention to the game till Bodie brought it to your attention. I bet you were just trying to think of a way to hurt her"

"No I wasn't. I was just distracted! I would never hurt her or anyone just because" I say.

"Yea sure Glitch-"

"Adam leave him alone. I'm fine. It was just an accident" Harmony says as she puts the towel Taye gave her on her nose. "Thank you Taye" She says to Taye and stands up.

"But he hurt you" Adam says standing up as well.

"On accident" Harmony says. "I know him well enough that he wouldn't purposely hurt someone"

"But he-"

"No Adam. Just let it go" Harmony says, interrupting him. "I'm sure if it was the other way around, you wouldn't want to be yelled at for something that you did on accident. Right?"

"Right..." Adam says. Haha she got you.

"I'm really sorry Harmony" I say.

Harmony looks at me. "It's okay Glitch. Just don't spike it that hard next time and move your body towards the direction you want the ball to go and you should be able to make a point" She says and gives me a smile which I instantly return.

"Come on Harmony. Let's go check your nose to make sure it's okay" Emilia says. She then starts leading Harmony back to the beach house. 

She just defended me and talked to me without yelling at me. And she smiled at me. I think to myself which makes me smile more.

"Harmony makes you happy doesn't she?"

"Yea she does" I saw without thinking.

I then feel someone push me and I fall onto the sand. "What the-?"

"You better leave Harmony alone Glitch. She's mine not yours. Understood?" Adam says as he picks me up by my shirt. It takes me a second to realize that everyone has gone back inside and it's only me and Adam out here.

"Y-yes" I say being a little scared.

"Good" Adam then drops me again onto the sand and walks into the beach house.

Sometimes I wish that I could show people my memories. Harmony needs to know that he's not the guy she thinks he really is.

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I got my wisdom teeth pulled out last week and I was super miserable and tired the entire time. But now I'm better and hopefully I will be updating a lot more now.

Thank you for reading! Sorry if the chapter was kinda stupid and boring and if I got the game play wrong for when they were playing beach volleyball. I've never played beach volleyball before so I really don't know how different it is from regular volleyball.
