[13]The Big Day {p.1- Are We Ready?}

Katniss' POV

My alarm clock on my nightstand read 12:47. Great. Just what I need on the night before my wedding day.

I can't go to sleep this late or I'll be exhausted tomorrow and that wouldn't be good at all.

"Peeta? You still awake?" I whisper as I roll around to face him, who seems to be facing opposite of me.

"Hm?" He asked.

"I just didn't know if you were still up or not."

"You can't sleep either?"

"No," I sigh. Thoughts and thoughts and thoughts were racing through my mind and there was no possible way of putting it to a stop.

He turns over to me, as I stare into a sea of blue, that's looking into my sea of grey. "It's gonna be okay, Katniss. Every thing will be fine." He assures me.

"It's not that. I just can't seem to get the running thoughts out of my mind," I state.

"You're not the only one," he frowns. He then glances at my bare forearm. "Where did you get that one from?" He asks, questioning my scar. I have too many to count that I'm not sure which is which.

"I think it was from the sewer attack," I say with a tear tricking down my cheek.

Peeta's POV

"Shhh Katniss, it's okay. Finnick knows how much you tried. He's safe now, just like we are, and I know for a fact that he's proud of your accomplishments." Even a little tear trickles down my nose. Katniss just stays silent and hugs me. I listen to the steady pace of her breathing.

"You know what?" I gently ask her.

She sniffles and sits up with her puppy dog eyes, "what?"

"I feel like the luckiest person alive to have you. You're all I need, all I ever wanted. Ever since we were little, I wanted to end up with you. I got my ways, but it was risky. I had no idea my life would be like this but I'm happy I' have you." I smile at her and she smiles back.

"I love you," she says into my shoulder hugging me again.

"I love you too,"  I whisper, "always."

"Always," she responds.

We share a long, passionate kiss that night. What I said was what I meant. It was all true. I never liked to lie, and she knows that.

I now glance over at my clock 1:09 it reads.

"Babe," I ask.

"Yes?"

"We better get to sleep," I say, "back to the good old days tomorrow. That's right, the old "on schedule Effie"
Is coming back!" I say sarcastically.

"Good grief," she moans and then giggles.

"She'll be in here at the crack of dawn with our prep team ready to roll," I sigh.

"Night baby," she says and gives me a gentle kiss.

"Night," I say, mimicking her tone.

"Cmon children let's get moving can't be off schedule today, no, no, big day! Very big day!" Effie squeals to the top of her lungs.

"Ugh, Peeta, what time is it," Katniss groans.

I glance over at my clock. " Exactly 6:00 a.m, Mrs.Mellark." I look over at her and her bed head. That could mean one of two things, she had a good sleep OR she had a reckless night. She smiles and I smirk.

"I like that," she says.

"CHILDREN COME ON THREE MINUTES BEHIND SCHEDULE!!" Effie now hollers from the hallway.

Katniss sighs and rolls out of bed. I do the same by mimicking her and we both end up on the floor cracking up. We then share a kiss before both of our prep teams tear us to shreds soon.

Effie walks in on us and gasps, "CHILDREN!! Please! Save that for later! Your prep teams are awaiting both of you now,"

We hug each other one last time before the wedding and scurried off to our teams.

Katniss' POV

I am greeted with hugs and kisses from my prep team this morning.

"Oh, congratulations dear!"

"We're so proud of you,"

"You've grown up so fast," they rub some of the tears from under their eyes.

"Thank you so much guys, I'm so glad you get to be here with me and prepare me for today. I love you guys." I say.

"We love you too," Octavia says and frowns. "Now come on! Let's get you ready before time is up! You must look perfect." She says as put her hands on my shoulders.

I go through what feels like hours and hours until I finally see a person in the mirror that looks nothing like me. Now it's time.
