[23] Surprise!!

Peeta's POV

Katniss and I intertwine fingers as we start to walk to the train station in twelve. Quite a bit of a walk, but we'll make it. I had all our luggage down there already

"Want a ride?" I ask Katniss as I stop and squat down on the ground. She runs toward me and soon enough im carrying her on my back, running through the "road" of Victors Village.

She doesn't stop laughing as her hair blows past her face in the October wind.

We pass Haymitch's place and look over to see him basically stalking us. I roll my eyes and give him an annoyed look and get back to running around with Katniss on my back.

Soon enough he opens his door and yells out, "you two look like a bunch of four year olds!!" Figures.

"Well Haymitch, I'm sorry you don't know what fun is," I snap back at him. I walk up to his porch, Katniss still managing to stay on my back.

"And I'm sorry you two look like four year olds. Where are you guys off to?"

"At least we have a life and we don't sit there staring out our window watching other people. We're off to our honeymoon."

"Ah the star crossed lovers honeymoon. Where at?"

I mouth the word 'four' to him so it's still a surprise for Katniss. Haymitch nods.

Katniss and I take off to the train station as Haymitch yells "behave!!" Hah. Classic. Well, we'll just have to see about that.....

Katniss gasps "Peeta it's gorgeous!!" Katniss says in admiration of the window view of four on our train.

"I knew you'd love it, surprise!" I smile watching her stare out the window.

"Surprise!" She says and jumps in my lap and starts to kiss me unexpectedly.

"Lovely surprise," I reply. She smiles and then turns it into a smirk. "We're going to stop and visit Annie and Finn on our way to the beach house also." I say.

"Aw yay! I miss them already. Annie has been mailing me pictures of Finn, he's getting so big, even since the wedding!" Katniss says joyfully.

The train comes to a stop. Katniss rushes over to the train doors as they slide open. I follow Katniss as we run out of the train into the warm sunny environment.

I scoop her up into my arms and carry her like a baby, running down to the sand and the ocean spinning her around in circles. The warm breeze flies by us, causing sand to float across my ankles.

"Hey Katniss," I say.

"What?" She replies.

"SURPRISE!" I yell and throw her into the ocean. She screams when I throw her in but then starts laughing.

"Oh you think I think it's funny?" She says running out of the water.

"Maybe...."

"I'll get revenge on you Mellark!!"

"So you say," I smirk. She collapses on the sand and just starts to crack up.

"Cmon Peeta, the sands so warm and cozy!"

"Whatever!" I start to laugh too, once I'm laying in the soft sand with Katniss beside me. I love seeing her happy and I'm glad that's something I can give her that not many other people can.

"I love you so, so much Katniss. I'd had no idea I would ever end up with you. Ever since we were little, I never knew we'd be here like this. Married and a great life ahead of us. I love you so much and just please don't ever leave me because you're a part of me that will never be able to be replaced, and if you do leave me, I will be even more broken than ever before. Words just cannot explain this." I stare at the sky. It was all true. I couldn't even imagine my life without her.

"I love you too, Peeta. And I was so stupid and retarded for hating you in the first games. I don't know what I even thought because I never noticed how wonderful you really were. I just, ugh I hate myself. Haymitch was right..."

"Right about what?"

"Well, when they did the Quarter Quell announcement, I went to Haymitch's house after you were there. I asked him to volunteer for you if you got reaped. I wanted you to be safe. But he-" she sniffles," he told me I could live a thousand life times and never deserve you. He was right." She sniffles.

"No. He was wrong. And that's coming from me. You could live an infinite amount of lifetimes and deserve me in every single lifetime you live. Please Katniss that's not true."

"But it is! I was never nice to you! Face it, I'm just a stupid teenager everyone hates."

"Hates?? Katniss you were the mockingjay the only people that hated you were from the Capitol because they're terrible people to everyone. The mockingjay was a big thing, and you wouldn't have even succeeded if everyone hated you. You were the leader of all of Panem during that time. Don't you see how many caring people are there for you? There are so many great people in your life but Katniss you just have to open you're eyes and see them!"

We both sit up, all covered in sand but not caring. I put my hand under Katniss' chin and move her head straight on facing mine.

"Katniss. Look me in the eye and say you're loved." Tears start streaming down her face.

"I am l-loved." She mumbles.

"Now say 'I am not horrible'"

"I am not horrible."  She sniffles.

"Say 'I am not hated.'"

"I am not hated."

"Lastly, say 'Peeta loves me'" the end of her lips curl up into a tiny smile.

"Peeta loved me."

"Now say," I pause, "SURPRISE!" She got me, and immediately her tears dry up and a smile forms on her face.

"I love you Peeta," she says, "you were right, and I love you." And I find us laying on the sand under the orange sky kissing.

Ah I've made this chapter and the last one in one day. I'm on a really long car ride up the east coast of America from Florida to Virginia ( I live in Pennsylvania by the way). so yeah it's really uncomfortable and boring so I spent most of the time of wattpad.
