We entered the Cafe, a bit hastily as our somach's appetite was specifically high! We went for the buy and go. I ordered an Iced Caramel Macciato and he bought a White Chocolate Mocha.
When he invited me for a picnic I had imagined something out of Wind in the Willows; a spread of scotch eggs, fresh bread sandwiches, sausage rolls and quiche. When he brought the limp-looking peanut butter sandwiches out of his pockets and thrust one into my hand I quickly swallowed my surprise and forced a smile. His eyes caught mine fleetingly before looking away. He indicated a place where he had spread his coat under a tree and I followed.
Though the path was dark, cast into shadow by the tall mossy pines on either side, the sun was beyond brilliant. Every tree glowed brightly virescent just at the edges of the trunks, a biological halo of sorts that brings a soothing happiness I've been missing these past few days. We settled under the tree and we shed a few glances at each other. I stared deep into his eyes and he stared into mine..wait not my eyes but the cut under my eye. It was the cut, that my dad had done with his ring. He crawled closer to me feeling the warmth radiating from his body as I blushed the thought away. Slowly, his fingers caressed the scar. Very touche!
"Summers, what is this scar?" he asked, pain in his voice.
"Huh, oh that, I scratched myself you see," I lied
"Ok, now tell me the truth...What is this mark?" he asked, examining my little movements.
"I am telling the truth..why would I lie to you?" I answered, feeling really nervous.
"Oh ok, but if there is anything please don't hesistae to tell me got it Cara?" he said, slight disappointment in his voice.
"You are still upset aren't you?" I coaxed
"Me? Nah Cara?" he replied.
"Cara? not Summers?" I teased and his fell slightly, relaxing a bit.
"Sorry Summers" he replied and pulled me into a hug
In the sunset our cuddles feel like a little touch of heaven, warm, together, cozy. I wish I could extend the night just so I could stay close to him for longer, safe in your embrace. His arms wrapped right around me bring a peace I've never known before, a calming of the storms in my heart. I think it's him that gives me hope for the future. In his embrace I start to believe that there is nothing out there to fear, that all there is is sunshine, beautiful trees and kind people - friends to be. His cuddles are the only medicine I need, they are the light in the darkness, a lone star in an otherwise empty sky.
"Summers, I think we should get home now?" he asked but I didn't want this. He drew his arms from my shoulder and I suddenly yearned for him.
"Time flies so quickly" I replied as both stood up and went to his car. The ride was quiet but very romantic. I sat next to the drivers seat. As he pulled up to my house, I hastily glanced at the my house, checking if any lights were on but luckily none! Just as I was gonna get out of the car, Dane's hand helds mine and I stare into his eyes.
"Thanks Dane, it was perfect" I drawled
"You are perfect" he said charmingly as he lets go off my hand. I smile and for a moment I feel he is all mine.
"Bye Dane," I responded and we gazed at each other. Perfectly romantic.
"Bye Summers, uh I will text you" he blushed and with that he drove away leaving me speechless.
