"Ha, you should have seen the look on you face, don't worry you didn't steal my first kiss," I babbled. We walked back on the pavement and started walking towards his car.
"Who did?" he continued with a stern kind of anger face.
"None of your problem, just a past, only worrying about the future," I replied, smiling as I pull back a wet strand of hair and sit in the warmth of the car. I turned the heating up a notch as hot hair streamed in and comfortated me.
"So...tell me a bit about yourself," he murmured.
I definately didn't want him to know or find out by parents so all I had to do was improvise.
"Uh, well I am the only child and my mum died when I was little and my dad is a busy man, so he is normally out of town. My grandma used to care for me when I was little, but she passed away sadly and so my guardian is my forgetful maid," I replied. That story wasn't based up on lies but it wasn't based on truth either.
"Oh I am really sorry to hear that, uh are you cold?" he grinned, feeling slightly uncomfortable in the whole situation.
"Is that the best you can do ha!" I laughed through my battering teeth. "And yes I am literally going to freeze!"
"Here," he put the seat and foot radiators on and handed his leather jacket to cover my self.
"How gentleman like, hehe thanks!"I replied as I wore on the jacket. It was wet but equally warm.
"Well, do you want to go and grab anything to eat before heading home?" he asked and I nodded.
"How about McDonalds? I love their chicken nuggets!" I replied as water formed in my mouth just thinking that.
"Uh I have never been there," he notified blatantly.
"What do you mean?"I wheezed
"Well you see my mum and dad are healthy eating addicts and they want me and my older sister to be like them to, so no fast food for us, unless I break the rule now!" he smirked and I laughed back realising what I meant.
"No, I will get something, you should't break your mum's trust, tut tut tut!" I mimiciked and waved my finger up and down on each of the 'tuts'.
"That is not fair!"he whined as I chortled at his stress.
"It so is!"I replied
"It so isn't!" he ranted.
"Fine! but if your mum or dad finds out, I am blaming it on!" I provoked as we drove past my house nearing his. After that we went on again; and the roads struck westwards and left the river, and the great shoulder of the south-pointing mountain-spur drew ever nearer. We grabbed our McDonalds and ate silently in the car and headed on. At length we reached the hill path. It scrambled steeply up, and we drove slowly, till at last we came to the top of the ridge and saw the wintry moon rising to the west behind his massive house.
"Woah, this is beautiful," I gawked as I stared through the car window.
When at last we arrived, the grey house was a blur behind the rain-washed window of the truck. It was large, certainly, almost intimidatingly so. On climbing out it took a more detailed form, natural grey stone with all the hues mother nature can provide. The paintwork on the trim was brilliant white, flawless and the path wound to a double oak front door in loose pea shingle. The windows weren't the large ones that are so fashionable now, but more the size she used to see in old country cottages, and like them they were mullioned.
"Yes, it a pretty house, I have to say, we might be moving out later or so though," he replied as we went up to the house. He rang the bell and the door opened presenting a beautiful woman who I guessed his mum. She appeared in the room with the winter snow billowing around her skirt. With black hair of wool and her head held high, she waltzed on with an effortless saunter. The clicking of her heels added rhythm to the soft classical music that played onward without pause. Her eyes scanned the both of us with determination in search of someone when her eyes met mine she smiled.
"Hi, who is this adorable girl you have got here James?" She asked as she smiled softly at me.
"Oh mum, this is Cara, she was kinda locked out from her house, and she didn't have anywhere to go, so I decided to call her here!" He replied as he held her in to giver her a mother-son duo hug.
"I would stay, only if you don't mind Mrs Fuller?" I mannered as I placed my hand to greet her.
"Oh you have lovely manners Cara, oh come in, I will fetch some towels for both of you and please call me Sienna," she replied as she gestured us into the house.
The old world charm ended had ended once getting in, once across the threshold it was technology and modern design all the way. The floors were polished concrete and the furniture scandinavian, high end designers only. The only compromise to comfort was the sheepskin on the floor, so clean it was hard to believe anyone had ever stepped foot on it.
"How about if you show Cara your room and show her some of your toys?" She replied as I chuckled because my mum would probably have said the same thing.
"Mum, you're embarrassing me, I don't play with toys, I am a grown up boy!" He blushed in embarrassment as he bowed down, fidgeting with t-shirt.
"You will never be grown up for me, whatever your age is!" She exclaimed as she patted his head, trying to mess up his wet hair and headed to fetch the towels. A few minutes later, we dried our hair and James lead the way upstairs to his room.
I paused to look in what I thought must be a cupboard, but instead on the other side was a bedroom. It had clearly belonged to a child, and a loved one at that. There were so many posters of Liverpool Football Club on the walls that they really weren't to sure of the paint colour behind them. The bed was not pushed up against a wall but more central with an elaborate mahogany headboard. On the night stand was The Prisoner of Azkaban, and on newspaper was a pair of cleated boots still with residues of mud on the sides. Yet the bed itself had the Liverpool covers and over it all lay a thick layer of pristine dust. Not a footfall had disturbed this room in some time.
I made myself comfortable as I sat on the bed. Embarassed already, he quickly picked up all his clothes and put them away.
"Look, yes I know my room is a garbage truck, but you are one of the few girl who has ever been here, so kinda need to make it neat," he blushed and I snickered. I knew who the first girl was-Naomi. Who else? "Not funny Cara!" he replied, trying so hard not to fall in fits of laughter.
"Oh James, give up already, your itching to laugh!" I snarled. "Anyways where am I gonna sleep for the night?" I asked.
"Well there is guest room, so you could sleep there,"he replied as I gave him a quick nod.
"Anyways, I will call it a day, gonna sleep now!" I smiled.
Just as I was about to leave, James held my hand back and said some words that I shall never forget.
