It All Began With You

...Heartbroken...

The courage I had enraged into myself, definately started demeaning whilst I gradually made my way to Dane's classroom. It was lunch time, the time where I spend the time just eating food but I had to get this sorted, only then I could eat properly. I spotted him, making his way to me. I smiled and sighed relieved. He walked up to me and brushed past me. I stood there feeling heart less and heart broken. Just as I was about to proceed and walk to him.. something I saw shattered my heart. The kiss came out of nowhere. One minute Dane was over the other side of her engrossed in his conversation with few of his friends. The next he was kissing the girl. Not me but the girl I had seen in the car park with him. His hand clasped gently into the back of her hair, pressing in softly. After a few seconds he broke away and smiled, "I just had to do that Naomi." The look on her face told him everything, there wasn't the outrage there should have been, if anything she had the same expression she had for expensive chocolates and liqueurs. The kiss was inconsequential, he could even laugh about it with the boys. I  But there was no way that was going to be a one off, I made a mental note to stay away from the pair of them. Being their confidant in some seedy affair was the last thing I needed right now. 

  He said he liked me and I took him at his word. He said I was his soul mate and over the weeks he became part of the bedrock of my personality. Then one sunny day, under a cloudless sky, he showed your real side. It would have been kinder to kill me. Now I must be this person filled with a bitterness I can't control. If it wouldn't wound them so badly I'd see him six feet under and walk away without shedding a God damn tear, not one. The girl he met under that apple blossom tree, the one with the big eyes and the bigger heart is now consumed by a hatred she never knew could take root..that other girl is me....But here it is. Here we are. I am yesterday's news and she is the new bell of the ball. He holds her around her waist. All the while I am forced to smile and make small talk. The hate doesn't ebb, it multiplies.  

I watch them as he tags her along with him. Anger spits up in me intead of sadness. I gulp down the lump in my throat and clench my fists in anger. Maybe because I knew it was not my fault...maybe because he betrayed me. I took strides and with a quick and swift move I stood in front of them. They took me by shock, especially Dane, who craved a worrying expression on his face. The girl, Naomi kept glancing at me and Dane. 

"Uh Dane, who is this?" Naomi asked perplexed.

"Uh hi Naomi, I am Cara-Cara Summers" as I gave her a one sided smile. Even though I know I was betrayed, but it wasn't entirely her fault, Dane wouldn't have told her. 

"Sorry, I still haven't recognized you, have we met before?" she asked and I took a quick glance at Dane and he looked away. I gave her a half smile at her.

"No never, just that I know Dane because we are kinda friends or just acquaintances, right Dane?" I stare sharply at him and he stares into mine, looking lost in his thoughts. 

"Dane?" I asked giving him a smirk of revenge "well anyways, who are you to Dane?" I ask feeling really curious of what answer awaits.

"Well..hehehe..well we actually we are girlfriend and boyfriend! Dane proposed me to be his girlfriend yesterday!" she explode. I exploded into a million pieces and my heart skipped a beat. I felt toyed and betrayed. Why did Dane do that? Was it me who had the lacking? Maybe I wasn't good enough? Maybe it was my fault...Just Maybe...

My expression did surely change and I hung my mouth open and Naomi looked disgusted as I was about to drool.

"Huh, oh sorry, I was just shocked that Dane got a girlfriend! Happy for both of you!" I pressurised the 'both' as I looked at Dane giving him a stern face and with that I walked away.

All of a sudden I heard a voice call behind me and rushed by my side was Naomi. 

"Hey, how about you come to mine and Dane's celebration party! It will be amazing, pls do visit!" as she prolonged her hand and gave me an invitation letter. I debated in my mind and quite frankly somewhere in my heart, I knew that Dane's feelings for me hadn't subsided and maybe it was a test of faith and with that I took the envelope from her hand.

"Thanks, I will be there" I exclaimed and gave a quick glance at Dane who was standing a bit away from us but his eyes glued to me. I smiled at Naomi and I scurried away.
