Chapter 39 : Uncertainty

*Alisa's POV*

I cant believe this. He did this to me AGAIN.

I stood outside on the front lawn. I was pissed! I stood there grinding my teeth. I would've went somewhere but I'm not tryna get lost in this city.

I watched as cars drove by and little kids playing across the street. I started to pace around, trying to gather everything in my mind.

Okay. He was obviously drunk, but thats a shitty excuse. If he kissed her, what else could've happened? I made myself madder even thinking about it.

I continued pacing on the lawn until Julian came outside.

"Oh great." I grunted as I rolled my eyes.

I folded my arms and turned away from him.

"What?" I asked.

"Listen.. Just let me explain." He said grabbing my arm and turning me to him.

I snatched away and folded my arms again. I just glared at him. I'm pissed.

"It was a mistake alright, it meant nothing."

"Tell me one thing.." I sighed and felt tears forming in my eyes. "Did you sleep with her?"

He looked down and sighed.

"Answer me!" I screamed as he looked back up at me.

He didn't say a damn word but I could tell his answer just from the look in his eyes.

I screamed and plunged over to him swinging.

"Alisa!" He said trying to grab my arms as i kept throwing hits. "Stop!"

"No!"

I pushed him down on the lawn as i felt tears streaming down my cheeks.

"You did this to me again."

He looked up at me. "I fucked up. Just listen to me."

"No. I made the mistake of listening to you before. And I'm not falling for it again."

I wiped my face with my hand and walked back into the house.

I just.. I just don't know what to do anymore. I cant keep putting in effort in a relationship that he isn't taking seriously.

*Taliah's POV*

"Ma," I said walking into the kitchen where my mom was. "Where's auntie and PopPop?"

"We went to the store and forgot to pick up his medicine before we left his house. So she dropped me and your dad off and drove him back to get it."

I sat down at the counter and watched as she put a plate in front of me.

"You hungry?"

"No." I said resting my head on my hand.

"Something's wrong." She said leaning against the counter. "You, Taliah Neil, are not hungry?"

I giggled and shook my head.

"Whats up?"

"Who invited him here?"

"Who? Jermaine? I dont know, but dont you think its time to forgive and forget?"

"I cant Ma. He played me like a fool, knowing how much i loved him."

She sighed and shook her head before kissing me on the forehead.

"Forgive and forget, Taliah."

I got up and walked back into the living room.

We all sat there watching old family videos.

I had my legs crossed and i leaned over on Langston's shoulder.

"Heyyyyy! Familyyyy." I heard my grandpa's voice boom through the room. "Where's my babies?"

I looked over and saw him standing in the doorway with Auntie.

Me and Mia hopped up and gave him hugs.

"Ohhh." He said hugging us tight. "I missed you two so much."

"We missed you too." I looked up at him smiling.

"There's some people here we want you to meet PopPop." Mia said grabbing his hand and taking him into the living room.

"PopPop," she said. "This is DayDay."

Her face lit up when DayDay stood up and shook his hand.

"And this is Langston." I smiled as he stood up and held my hand.

"Ahhhh. I see." PopPop said shaking Lang's hand. "You two take good care of my granddaughters"

I smiled and looked up at Langston before he kissed me on the forehead.

Jen and I were in the kitchen while everybody else was either gathered in the living room or outside playing basketball with my old neighbors.

"So how does it feel? Touring and stuff?" She asked.

"Its... Complicated." I laughed as i leaned on the counter and played around on the plate my mom left of crackers and cheese.

"How so?"

"Its kinda hard being on the road and stuff and being away from home."

"Ahhhh. I see." She she picking a cracker off of the plate. "You ever miss it here?"

"Ehh. Sometimes.. Its so many memories here. Good and bad."

"Well," she said patting me on the shoulder. "We miss you a lot here. You should visit more often. But i gotta go pick up Brittany."

"Alright. See ya."

"Wait. You here until when?"

"Wednesday afternoon. Then its back on the road" I pouted, making her laugh.

"Alrighty. Come to my house on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure the rest of the fam wants to see you."

"Okay. Gotchu."

She gave me a hug before leaving the kitchen.

I covered my face with my hands and let out a loud sigh.

It was almost dead silent until all the guys came in the kitchen, raiding the refrigerator for waters and food. It was DayDay, Julian, Jermaine and a bunch of my cousins

I moved my hands from my face and just looked at them.

They were laughing and talking and being loud as hell. I rolled my eyes and walked over to the cabinets to look for something to snack on. I stood on my tiptoes to reach the top shelf where the Cheez-Its were. My shirt lifted slightly

"Ahhhh." I her Jermaine laugh. "I remember when you first got that tattoo.."

I got off my tiptoes and and without turning around, shook my head.

"You remember that? You were damn near scared to death but i was there holding your hand."

I instantly got an attitude. I continued facing the cabinets, eating my cheez-its.

"I know you remember all the good times we had before."

I sighed and closed the box and put it up again. After i put it back on the shelf i heard footsteps and in walked Langston. He walked over to me and wrapped his arm around my waist. I guess he could see the look on my face that i felt uncomfortable in here.

"You okay?" He whispered to me after kissing my cheek.

"Yeah.." I said looking up at him and giving him a light smile.

He furrowed his eyebrows then shook it off.

He pulled me into a tight hug and rested his chin on the top of my head. I laid my head on his chest and wrapped my arms around him and hugged back.

I looked over and Jermaine was the first thing in sight. He had his head down, looking at his hands, then he looked up at me and smirked a little.

*sigh*
