Chapter 16 : Party Time

*Essie's POV*

I stand in front of my mirror getting dolled up for Chris's party tonight.

"Vickyyyy!" I yelled as i put my earrings on.

"What nigga!?" She yelled from the other room.

"What time is Dad coming to pick us up?" I yelled back.

"Urmmmm .." She paused for a second. "7:00 i think."

"Okay" i said looking at the clock. It was only 6:30.

I finished getting ready and i went downstairs and waited. Me &Vicky haven't lived with our dad since before him and our mom got divorced 5 years ago. I mean i love my dad, but i haven't spent any real 'quality time' with him since i was 14. It's really complicated to describe .

I sat on the couch playing on my phone until Vicky came down the steps.

"Dad said he's a few blocks away."

"Alright. But aye , before we leave, take a few pictures of me on my phone"

"What?" She said giving me that 'girl bye' face

"Please," i said laughing a little.

"Fine. Pass it here"

I handed her my phone and she took a few pictures and then i took some of her on her phone then we heard our dad honking his car horn for us to come outside.

"Let's go." Vicky said grabbing her phone out of my hand as we walked out the door.

Vicky hopped in the front and i sat in the back . The car ride was really awkward. None of us were talking. It was just complete silence.

When we finally got to the party, i got out the car as quick as possible to avoid any conversation. Vicky was trailing right behind me.

"Essie! Hold up." She said grabbing my shoulder.

When we got to the door, all we heard was "It Takes Two" blasting. We walked in to see everybody dancing, talking and drinking.

"C'mon. Lets go find Chris." Vicky said trying to yell over the music.

We both squeezed through all the people standing near the door. Vicky was way ahead of me and i was sort of lost in the huge ass sea of people. I continued to try to catch up with Vicky but somebody bumped into me and spilled their drink.

"Watch where you're-"

"I'm so sorry!" He said. His voice sounded a little familiar, but i could barely remember.

I squinted my eyes to see if i could get a clear view of him. It was the guy from the mall earlier.

"It's okay.. I'm fine." I said trying to walk away but he grabbed my wrist and pulled me back.

"Aren't you that girl from the mall earlier?"

"Yeah." I said smiling. "I'm Essie."

"Nice to meet you." He said smiling back.

There was like this real awkward moment lol.

"Well uhh," i said. "See you around?"

"Yeah"

After that i went to go get something to drink. I saw a couple of my friends over near the bar so i chilled with them for a while.

"Essie!" I heard Vicky yell as she walked over to and sat next to me. "Where did you go yo ? I was looking for you."

"You the one that left me" i said laughing.

"Whatever."

"Did you find Chris?" I asked taking the last sip of my drink.
