Imagine:

'I bolted through my house, trying not to be burned. I yelled for my family to awaken from their slumber. I ran outside and collapsed onto the grass and watched my house as it was engulfed in flames. "MOM!! DAD!! KURT!!!" I screamed at the house, hoping my family might escape... They never did. My little brother, mom and dad all died in the fire' I gasped in shock as I woke up in my cell.

I sighed realizing that it was a dream. Well... Nightmare. However, this nightmare was once true. My family died when I was just ten years old. My mom and dad died in the fire, they couldn't escape and luckily my little brother didn't wake up, he died from smoke inhalation. Ever since then, I was put into an orphanage.

When the apocalypse began I managed to get free from the orphanage and be alone. I taught myself survival skills and when I met Rick and his group everything became easier.

The best part about Ricks group was my best friend, Carl Grimes, Ricks son. He was my age. Right now, we are both 15 years old. I felt safe and accepted when I was with him. Carl was like my brother. I love him a lot.

I sat up and got out of bed. I quietly tip toed down to Carl's cell, careful not to wake anyone in the process. I entered his cell, quietly, even though my plan was to wake him. I shook him slightly saying his name. He awoke with a start.

"(Y/N), what are you doing here? Another nightmare?" Carl asked, rubbing his eyes. I nodded and he scooted over and laid back down. "C'mere" he said, opening his arms. I smiled and laid down next to him. Carl wrapped his arms around me and I snuggled into his chest. I inhaled heavily, he always smelled like home. "This is why you're my best friend" I said, as we entangled our legs. "Why? Because I give you more than half of my bed when you're scared?" He chuckled. "Yup" I nodded while quietly laughing. "What would you do without me?" Carl said, closing his eyes.

"Go to sleep!" I heard Daryl yell. I giggled quietly then Carl and I drifted off to a blissful slumber.
