Katie had been chained to a post for over a week watching the legionnaires train. Once a day they'd throw a ration bar at her and laugh as she struggled to eat it with her hands tied behind her back. Barneky thought the chains were what kept her from attacking, but actuality it was hunger. The ration bars barely gave her enough to keep going, let alone use any of her powers.
She suffered in quiet dignity. The first two days they'd come over and taunt her, but stopped after she produced the daemon face a few times. They'd run away scared and she'd giggle to herself in amusement. While she waited she daydreamed of ways to kill them all. It was all in fun, but she did hope Kita would let her have a couple. After what happened to Snowy it gave her some ideas on long painful ways to die.
That night the camp had a different energy about it. Instead of the usually sleepy feeling, everything was moving. Katie watched as tents were broken down, equipment placed into traveling containers, and carts were loaded. At last she was taken and chained to the back of a cart with two guards on either side of her, just out of kicking distance.
The carts were all lined up around the pool of lava ready to go. Curious Katie where they were going, she watched as the carts started to move toward the lava tube entrance. Part of the wall had been swung out to make a dam and redirect the lava as the legionnaires marched into the lava tube.
They didn't go far when a section of the floor lowered creating a ramp down into an older tube. That would explain why the lava ran on the surface she sighed. Once the entire group was inside she heard the ramp close and felt the heat as the lava returned over head.
With her wings and hands tied behind her, keeping up the pace was difficult. Eating was even worse. The scared legionnaires would set it on the back of the cart and force her to jump up and get it. She'd missed a few meals that way. The more she missed the weaker she became.
After she was unable to keep up the pace, they'd thrown her into the back of a cart and chaining her legs together. No one fed her for the remains of the trip. After the two week journey she could barely stand.
The carts stopped and Katie was unloaded. For a long time she lay on a metal platform looking at a bunch of white boxes. Around her the legionnaires unpacked the carts and moved the equipment and gear into the boxes. As usual she was the last thing to be loaded. Placed in box with no windows or light, it was pitch black when they closed the door. She could see if she wanted to, but there wasn't anything to look at.
If it wasn't for the gentle swaying she wound have never know they were moving. Whatever they were in, it moved silently. Laying her head back she tried to sleep.
The door of the box was flung open and she was grabbed by two big legionnaires. The pair carried her off the metal platform and down a hall. The hall was similar to those of Outpost Twenty Four, a light brown color with a blue strip just off center toward the bottom. Taking her through a twisting and turning maze they arrived at a large set of double doors.
