Sarin looked down the long table piled high with food. All of her favorites from both the Roost and from the islands where there and she couldn't wait to get at it. She and Tina had the honor of going first. Behind her several hundred Arconians and Snowy's legionnaires waited for their turn. While they were waiting she'd found out that this was only one of over three hundred tables around the islands set out for the occasion. Her visiting was like an impromptu national holiday.

During the meal she sat at the head table and chatted with the chieftains and other important members of Arconian society. She found they all had an exceptionally wicked sense of humor. While she chatted away the Afrikaaner cleared his throat to get her attention. He had to do it three more times before she'd take her attention away from the war story being told.

Sarin smiled at the chieftain, "excuse me, Chieftain Gunn, I need to have a word with one of my commanders."

She purposely stressed "commanders" to show her annoyance.

"Yes Commander de Bruin?"

"My apologies Commandant, but the Envoy from Afrikaan to the new Region of Arcone would like to meet you."

"I guess I can do that. Bring him over whenever you want."

The Afrikaaner looked at her startled for a moment then regained his composure, "Of course Commandant. I will bring him over shortly."

Sarin half shrugged at him as a dismissal and turned back the chieftain.

"Sorry for the interruption, please go on. Your story is quite entertaining." Sarin was sure most of it was a yarn, but it was entertaining all the same.

Ten minutes later the Afrikaaner was back with a tall stern looking man dressed in a kaki three piece suit with a silk ascot and a safari hat. Sarin looked him up and down, she wasn't impressed. He looked like one of several thousand men who'd either hired her or stared at her openly in the streets.

Nervously the Afrikaaner introduced the Envoy.

"Commandant Sarin I would like to introduce you to Envoy Jakobus Van Vuuren."

Sarin watched the man decide who the Afrikaaner was addressing. She, Snowy, and Tina were nearly sitting in each other's laps. Finally she stood up.

"Thank you, Commander de Bruin."

Sarin waited for the Envoy to extend his greeting, when she realized he was waiting on her, she made him wait some more. Finally with a stony face he extended his hand.

"Good evening to you Commandant Sarin."

Sarin gave him a big smile, "and to you Enovy Van Vuuren. I didn't know you were here tonight."
