Darkness.
Completely pure darkness surrounded me, not even a window anywhere to be seen.
I groaned softly, my head beginning to ache in a throbbing manner. My hand went to my head, finding a new bump on the side of my head. All I could remember was running from an approaching stranger, and then getting tossed off my horse.
Ryder.
Where was Ryder? I slowly stood up, my whole body protesting as I hobbled around, my hands touching the side of the wall to keep me centered. My hands slid against the smooth wall, trying to find even the slightest nook or cranny for a way out. I groaned again, this time louder in frustration. Would I never get out of here?
My eyes suddenly zoned in on a red blinking light high up in the corner. My forehead wrinkles in confusion as I walked closer to it, my eyes slowly gaining horror as I noticed it was a camera mounted to the ceiling.
Someone was watching me.
"Hello?" My voice bounced back to me, echoing against the empty room. "If this is a joke, it's not funny." I growled, scratching the back of my head in thought. "Tyler?"
Still no response as I slumped against the back of the wall. "No crying." I whispered to myself, rubbing my eyes. My eyes had grown accustomed to the darkness but I still saw no sign of anything. Nothing but that stupid camera light. "Hello!" I screamed out, my hands going up in frustration.
I was slowly going insane. My eyes closed as I let my back hit the wall, slowly slumping down until my butt touched the floor. I sighed and put my hands over my face, rubbing my eyes into I went into the oblivion where the rubbing made me see random colors. My breath faltered as footsteps walked above me. Was I underground?
Hello.
My blood chilled and my heart dropped to my stomach. Chills flew up my spine as I looked around the room furiously. "Is someone here?" I called out, my heart beating rapidly.
Again, I could see no one in sight. "Hello!" I called out once more, my stomach felt queasy with fear. A sudden thought came to me, making me feel even more uneasy then I already was.
If someone wanted me dead then they had me right where they wanted me.
I stood to my feet and began to pace the room, back and forth countless times. My legs began to get sore, my muscles screaming and crying for me to stop as a glint of sweat was visible on my brow.
I don't know how long I've been pacing until I couldn't take another step. My feet felt as if I had cement blocks tied to them. Slowly I realized that there was no way out. Period.
I sighed, a whimper going through my lips as I laid to the ground. I laid flat on my back, slowly resting my muscles. As I began to slip into an even greater darkness, the last thing I saw was the lights suddenly flashing on. Brighter then any light I have ever seen before.
Then I welcomed the darkness for the second time.
•~•
Two men shuffled around the outside of my door, arguing lowly about me being trapped in there. I moaned softly, stretching my muscles as my eyes fluttered open. The lights were still out, but I could feel myself tied to something. My arms fidgeted against the ropes that tethered me to the wall, sweating with frustration as they wouldn't loosen. My whole body felt like it had been run over, which I very well could of. Again I heard the voices, one being a gruff, masculine voice. While the other was gentle, but clearly being cautious with his words.
"We can not keep her in there for much longer, sir." The gentle voice demanded, I could imagine that he had a fierce look on his face. The other man groaned loudly, "We can not let her escape, Alpha won't be happy with us." He growled, I imagined him to have a stern, furious look on his face.
"She will suffer physiologically if she stays in there to much longer, she is already showing signs of insanity." He muttered, causing the gruffer man to growl. "Fine, but if she escapes then it's your ass." He continued to growl, making the gentle man lower his voice. "Understood, Beta."
Then my door opened, and the lights flipped on. My pupils burned with the intensity of the lights, brighter then any normal light. My eyes snapped shut as I hissed towards the men, "Shut it off!"
The nicer man held a sad look to himself, biting his lip to not say a word.
"You want us to leave you in the darkness again? We don't even get a thank you for saving you from the dark?" The Beta, as the other man called him, chuckled.
"It's just a precautionary, so that you don't try to run. The LEDs, that is." A kinder voice said, his hand moving to rest on my shoulder, causing my skin to crawl. I jerked back away from him, my eyes still burning but I opened them again. "Stay away from me!" I cried, my knees coming up to my chest.
"I'm Dr. William Jackson, but you can call me Will. I'm the Pack Doctor of the Baarish Pack." The nicer of the two tried, putting his hand out to me again. I slapped his hand away, watching him with guarded eyes.
"What do you want with me!" I said in a scratchy voice, my throat begging for water.
"That I don't exactly know, but I do know our Alpha wants you for leverage against Alpha Clemmons."
My eyes widened, causing them to ache even more. "Alpha Gage? But he's the friendliest of all the Alphas!" I protested, trying to scoot even farther away but the ropes kept me in place.
He shrugged crossing his arms and looking to the Beta. "Beta Bryce, please take her up to the Alpha. He's asking to see her."
The Beta, Bryce, smiled a sinister smile; his hands going towards my rope to yank me up. With my hands still tied, he led me towards the Alphas office, seemingly to happy for his own good.
"Where's my horse?" I growled, shooting daggers towards him with my highly pissed eyes.
He looked to me, sending an evil smirk. "We ate him." He grinned, continuing to pull me along as my heart sank to the pit of my stomach. He laughed darkly at my few tears that leaked out of my eyes.
"Welcome to Hell."
