I'm not on the good side with the Alpha at the moment. Once Beta Bryce left me with Alpha Gage in the office, I let the Alpha know how much I was displeased with my treatment.
With a swift kick in between the legs.
Apparently, that was a bad idea according to Beta Bryce. He told me that I get to go somewhere worse then the dark room, my worst nightmare. Somewhere called the Torture Chamber.
Bryce led me down towards the dark room, but took a turn to the left, shoving my shoulder forward as we came up to a padlocked door. He took out a key and inserted it into the lock, turning the key and opening up the door. "In you go." He chuckled and shoved me in with my hands still tied. The first thing that hit me was the intense smell of rotting meat. It was enough to make my stomach churn, wanting the vomit whatever was in my stomach.
Then the lights turned on. And the next thing I saw made my breath completely stop. Everywhere I looked, bodies of wolves and humans were littered across the floor. Rats who were feasting on the rotting meat squeaked and scurried away as light filled the area. My heart went to my throat, and my hand immediately covered my mouth. "What the hell." I murmured, my eyes not able to look away from the devastating scene in front of me.
"Pretty terrible, huh?" A broken voice called, each word sounding as if her vocal cords were dying. My head whipped around, looking in the direction of the voice. Finally my eyes landed upon a pretty blonde haired girl, who was covered in blood, dirt, and whatever else was littered throughout the room. She chuckled, her hand wiping off a cockroach that crawled up on her leg. "I'm not dead yet, buddy." She said with a slight laugh before looking back to me. "They prefer fresh meat." She shrugged, and gave me a questioning look. "Who are you?"
I looked to her with a slight sigh. I could tell at one point she was a pretty girl who was full of life. "I'm Emmilyn." I shrugged, copying her motion.
She gave me a humorless smile, "So Emmilyn, you look sweet enough. What did you do to make our oh so mighty Alpha pussy cat angry?" She asked, looking up and sendings glare towards a camcorder in the corner of the room. "The names Jade."
This made me chuckle, my eyes flashing in defiance. "I kicked Alpha Gage in the nuts." Jade grinned, her laughter turning into a coughing fit. "You got spunk, I'll give you that." She smirked, her hand going up to flip the camera off. "Fuck the Alpha!" She yelled, her voice begging for her to stop screaming.
"How about you?" I asked, watching her eyes turn into a mischievous glint. "Oh, that's a story for another time. Let's just say my Alpha is probably not going to be happy I've been gone for so long."
I nodded, "Fair enough." I shrugged and then frowned. "I've never seen you before, what pack are you from?" Her eyes held an even more hopeful look, one that you could tell that she hadn't had in awhile.
"Oh, you wouldn't know us. We're just a pack of filthy rogues." She laughed sarcastically, her tone proving that she knew otherwise.
"A rogue pack? They actually exist?" I asked, awe coating my voice. Thoughts began to circulate throughout my head. All Alpha Clemmons told us was that rogues were murderous and insane. That they were not to be trusted and they were kicked out of their packs for sanity issues, for the best of the pack.
"Contrary to the popular belief, us rogues are not crazy, bloodthirsty, lunatics. It may be true that a couple were, but the majority of us are not. The majority of us just wanted to escape the four packs. I'll tell you more if you deem worthy." She said nonchalantly, flickering her eyes towards the camera once again. "This place feeds off of fear and your screams." She spoke, her voice holding a knowing tone. Jade sighed and looked me directly in the eyes. "Do not fall for the tricks. It's not real." Her eyes held a sad look, but it was quickly replaced with a dull glaze.
I nodded and slumped against the wall, looking at the rotting bodies with a look of disgust. "Is this where they put all the dead bodies?"
She chuckled, "Most of them. The only ones not in here are the benign pack member."
My heart suddenly leapt. I could tell she had been in here for awhile, maybe she had seen them bring Ryder through. I really just needed closure. "Did they happen to bring a large horse down here? Bay in color?" I asked, not sure if I wanted her to say yes or no.
Jade shook her head, laughing to the best ability that she could. "Nah. They're afraid of anything bigger then them that they can't talk to. What'd they say? They killed him?" She chuckled again.
"They told me they ate him." I said softly, looking down to my feet. Tears brimmed at my eyes, but I didn't let them fall. I coughed, catching my breath and regulating my breathing.
"That's a load of bullshit." She coughed, her hand clutching her chest as she heaved. She pulled her knees up to her chest, leaving her head down against them. "Want to know their secret? They act all mighty and tough, but in reality.. They're vegetarians." She snorted, tears coming out of her eyes. "Can you believe that? Vegetarian wolves." She snorted, a small amount of blood trickling out of her nose.
My heart heaved in relief, my chest relieving of its ache. My Ryder was alive. That was enough to make me feel slightly better about my situation. I looked to Jade, finally noticing her awful condition. She was skin and bones- literally. I could probably count each bone of her body, including the ones on her back. Her collarbone stuck out prominently, her shoulders also. She noticed me checking her out, sighing slightly. "They haven't broken me yet," her voice came out in a faint whisper. "They never will. I'll die before they do."
My mind began to reel, was there anyway to get out of here? My heartbeat quickened, this place was meant to break me. Jade had fought it this long, but could I? I knew without a doubt I could, but could Jade hold on much longer? I sighed and slumped down beside Jade. "We will get out of here, Jade. I'll make sure of it. I'll help you back to your Pack. But first, we need a plan."
She smiled, hope blossoming in her eyes. "About damn time."
