I watched Ashton as he laid on the bed lifeless.
"Stop staring at me." He snapped.
"Sorry I'll just go." I gathered my things in my bag and put my pone in my back pocket.
"Yeah you will." I was taken aback by his rude language but brushed it off because I don't intend to really stay anyway. I quietly exited his room leaving the door cracked slightly. I quickly padded down the grand staircase when I came running into a woman I'm assuming was Ashton's mom.
"Oh sorry." I squeezed my way past her.
"No problem dear. Were with Ash?" Ash, I like that. It's cute.
I nodded.
"Excuse his rude actions. He's been on the fence lately." She brushed my arm and gave me a small smile with her mug in her hand. I gave her another nod and a small "thank you" before quickly making my exit through the front door.
I cold air hit me like a brick and I tucked myself within my coat, snuggling as close as possible.
I'm starving and cold and have no ride. I place my bag in the middle of the driveway and pull out a banana a didn't eat at lunch. I tilted it sideways and noticed large numbers and a small caption next to it.
It read:
Call me if you need anything- Calum
And his number. I smiled and peeled it open after I added it to my contacts. Then I continued walking.
The walk down the driveway seemed to be the longest walk I've ever taken in my life. Ashton doesn't even realize how lucky he is. He chooses to despise his family. He made the choice to shut them out. I can't blame him for the cigar incident, but he could at least try. Trying is what I've had to do my whole life. I've had to try to get used to it. I've had to try to love a stranger that I only have met and I have to try to call a house that I've only just entered my home. Temporary home at the fact. The least he could do was try to work with what he has.
I was bundled up in my jacket when I heard the squeak of brakes stop beside me. I looked up out of my jacket and saw a window roll down.
"Josie?" I recognized the adorable voice and became relieved.
"Calum." I sighed.
"Get in the car." I shuffled over to the passenger side and hopped in.
"What the hell are you doing?" He was on the verge of laughing. I rubbed my hands together and breathed in the cup of them.
"I was at Ashton's and then I just left." His eyebrows raised.
"He didn't offer you a ride or anything." I shook my head. He turned his head around and looking through the back window.
"What a dick." He mumbled to himself as he put the car in gear.
"C-can you take me home. I really don't want to be late for dinner."
"Of course. Where do you live?" He rested his wrist on the steering wheel and looked right at me. My eyes grew wide and my cheeks heated.
"Oh. That might be a problem."
"I don't blame you. I mean you just moved in." I nodded.
"But if you take me to the school I can tell you how to get to my house from there." He groaned.
"That's in the other direction but, I said call me if you need anything, and this is anything." I laughed and curled up in my seat looking out the window. He began to drive and I was in awe at how huge these houses were.
