I picked a finger full of grass needles between my fingers and squished them together. I gazed around the carpool lane waiting for Ashton's luxurious car to pull up and for me to climb inside of it. I squinted my eyes as I saw the clean car sweep to a stop in front of me. Picking up my backpack, I opened the car door and sat inside.

"Okay..." He sighed to himself as he put the car in gear and drove. I turned on my side and watched as his fingers flicked on and off the turn signals.

"What're you staring at?" He snapped.

"Nothing-"

"Tell me." I rolled my eyes.

"I was just thinking what if I had had a driver's license. I mean, I got my fifteen year old permit and all, but I never got the real thing."

"Josie... You're seventeen and you still don't have your driver's license?"

"Perks of being a foster child." I shrugged and pulled a sarcastic smile. Ashton peered his head to one side of the windshield and pulled into an empty parking lot. He parked into a space and pulled the keys out. Ashton turned to look at me and we both leaned onto the glove box until our noses almost touched.

"Step one. Switch sides." He smiled and got out of the car. I followed his actions with highly confused thoughts. I opened the driver's door and sat in.

"Step two, buckle up." I buckled my seatbelt and looked back over at Ashton.

"Step three, put in the key. But remember when you do, put your foot on the brake pedal when it's not on park and you don't wanna-"

"Ashton! I got it. I'm not gonna wreck your precious car." I laughed. I looked to the side of the wheel and inserted the key. The car made a beeping noise until my seat adjusted, obviously to Ashton's height because my feet could barely touch the pedals.

"You can adjust it to the side." He pointed to my right hand. I moved my seat forwards and upwards until it was comfortable.

"Step four, ease onto the gas, and drive." He gave me a warm smile before I turned to face the road ahead of me. My right foot slowly pressed the gas pedal and the car began to move.

I was finally getting the hang of it. Ashton wasn't speaking a word to me. I thought it was because he was gonna be sick, but when I would look at him, his eyes would be raking my body up and down until I was getting dizzy myself. Ashton was biting his bottom lip so hard he made himself get a red mark below his lip.

"Dammit Josie stop." I jolted the car to a stop as he violently tried to open the door. My eyebrows furrowed in worry as the maniac was about to tear off the handle to the car.

"Ashton..."

"Fuck! What!" He yelled turning to face me. I pressed the unlock button and his heavy breathing slowed. He turned back towards the door and opened it. Marching to my side, he practically pulled me out of the car once he opened the door.

"Get in." He sternly spoke as I opened the passenger door.

The car ride to his house was silent. He murmured a few profanic words to himself and rubbed his chin so hard I thought it was going to end up raw. We finally pulled into the massive house and Ashton quickly unblocked himself.

"Move it." He demanded. I hurriedly unbuckled myself and heaved my backpack over my shoulder. I closed the car door behind me and Ashton pulled my wrist, keeping his fingers on a tight lock.

"Ashton-"

"Shhh." He shushed me as he scrambled to find his right key. His fingers were shaking and he finally unlocked the door. Ashton pulled me inside and dragged me up the stairs to his bedroom, his grip still remaining on my wrist. I was forced into the room first because of the way Ashton let go of my wrist. My backpack slumped off of my shoulder and I threw it in the corner. Ashton closed his bedroom door, still facing it. His forehead almost touching the hard wood.
