"Samuel!" Jack's mom got up and hugged him. "Oh, let me go clean up the guest room!" She hurried out of the living room. My eyes meet Sam's and his widen.

"Alexis?" he stares at me.

"Sam?"

"What're you doing here?" he scratched the back of his head.

"Um- I- I'm here with Jack...Gilinsky," I say. "We're kinda together."

"Woah," he sits next to me. "I haven't seen you in, in forever!" He hugs me. "I missed you."

Sam and I had a thing, we never admitted anything. We never kissed or anything. There was just electricity, there.

"I missed you too!"

I heard the front door close. "Alexis, you're gonna be so upset when I-" he stopped when he saw us hugging. "Um-" I pulled away.

"Um- I- me and Sam have met before," I tell him. "I didn't know that you knew him, and when I saw him, it was shocking. That's why we were hugging." He stares at us confused. "What were you saying?"

"The airlines, they cancelled our flight, right? They won't even give me a refund to buy two more tickets!" he sat down annoyed.

"Well, how will we get to Hawaii?" I ask, sadly.

"Hawaii?" Sam asks. "You always wanted to go there!"

"I know!" I say happily.

"They- they won't refund. They just gave me two tickets back to LA tomorrow. Hawaii is off," he sighs and my face saddens. "I'm sorry, I spent tons of money on them. I don't have nearly enough now."

I was a little let down, but I understood that he couldn't do anything about it.

He doesn't want to make you happy. He wants you to be let down.

Shut up.

"It's okay, I understand," I get up and hug him. He wraps his arms around me and rubs my back. "We leave tomorrow?" I ask.

"Yeah, sorry it's a little earlier than expected."

"It's alright," I sigh.

"So how do you two know each other?" he asks.

"We met at Six Flags," Sam says.

"Yeah, he's the one that got me in," I add with a smile. "I had been outside walking, in the area. He saw me and asked if I wanted to go. He bought my ticket."

"How'd you two meet?" Sam asks.

"I was walking on the side of the road, he stopped and asked me if I wanted a ride," I
tell Sam.

"You have a really bad habit of gettin in cars with strangers," Sam laughs. Jack made eye contact with me and we sat in an awkward silence. I could feel the tension.

"Hey, Sam?" I say breaking the silence. "Do you wanna get a coffee with me and Jack?"

"Sure," he smiles. Jack shoots me an angry look.

"Could you give us a minute real quick?" I ask him and he nods. Sam leaves the room and I look at Jack. "What?"

"Why're you so friendly with him?"

"Well damn, Jack. He's an old friend that I didn't think I'd ever see again. I'm sorry for having friends," I raise my voice.

"No, it's not like that. You were hugging him, and now coffee with us."

"Well would you rather me and him go alone?" I offer.

He sighs, "no, I'm sorry." He rubs his face and grabs my hand. "I'm sorry, let's just go have coffee."

I walk to the car, hand in hand with Jack. Sam follows along. Jack drives us to a cafe. "Jack, can you order me a coffee? I need to use the restroom."

"Sure, babe," he said being sure to emphasize babe. I roll my eyes and walk to the bathroom.

Oh. The monthly visitor has arrived. I walk back into the cafe area. "Hey Jack?" I ask.

"Hm?"

"Can I uh- borrow the keys?"

"Why?" he looks at me confused.

"I- uh- I need to go get some stuff," I say awkwardly. His eyes widened.

"Oh, yeah." He hands me the keys. "Don't get anything on my seats," he chuckles. I roll my eyes again and walk to the car.
