I couldn't kiss Sam, what about Jack?

Once I finally got out of the crowded streets, I strolled by the beach, it would be getting dark soon. I took off my shoes and carried them as I walked through the sand.

I walked far enough that the waves could run over my feet. I walked down the beach, I don't even know how far I have walked.

"Hey," someone to my left called. I looked over and saw a Volkswagen van, next to it were four people people and a fire. "Come over here," I saw a man with long hair call.

I walked over and heard music playing, "is this Marley?" I asked.

"Yeah," the man replied.

"One Love, right?"

"The girl knows her stuff," a girl said. "Take a seat," she patted the tapestry spread across the sand next to her. "I like you."

"What's your name?" the man from before asked.

"I'm Alexis."

"I'm gonna call you breezy, you seem like a free-spirited person," he said with a smile, his teeth were so white. "I'm Ziggy, this is Hash Pants," he said pointing to the other guy with blonde, dreaded hair. "That's Cotton, that's Misty, and this is Doobie," he whistled and a dog leaped out of the van. He was a pretty cream color with a white chest. He had a few dreads in his long wavy hair.

"Nice to meet you all," I smiled and patted my knee, the dog came over and sat beside me. I pet him softly.

"What do you do, Breezy?" Hash asked.

"Well, when I was fifteen, I dropped out of high school and traveled a bunch. Ended up in California, and a guy picked me up, he convinced me to stick around. We're dating, or were," I explained.

"Aw what happened?" Cotton asked.

"Well, he got us first class tickets to fly out here since I really wanted to. They cancelled the flight though, and they wouldn't refund his tickets. So my friend Sammy woke me up in the night and he had two tickets, and here we are," I finished.

"So you left your boyfriend behind?" Cotton asked innocently.

"Well, damn Cotton," Misty speaks. "You left your husband."

"We were married at eighteen," she had a disgusted look on her face. "That wasn't going to last, anyways."

"You like to travel a lot?" Ziggy asked and I nodded. "You know what, Breezy?"

"What?"

"I like you, what do you say you hang out with us, maybe even your Sam friend, if he's cool."

"Well I'd love to, but we leave in two days," I say sadly. "Ya know, I didn't even want to stay in Cali. I just wanted to travel, and maybe bring Jack with me."

"Well, we will make your last two days here a hell of a two days," Hash Pants spoke. "And don't worry, we never stay in the same place, either. We're going on a road trip here soon. We're gonna fly out to Cali, start there."

"Cool," I said.

One of the doors to the van flew open and a man with dorm scruff and long, brown dreads stepped outside. He was carrying a tray with some stuff.

"Hell yaaaaa, bro," he said. He was baked. He grabbed something from the tray and passed it to Hash. He lit it, took a two puffs and passed it.

"Puff puff pass, Breezy," Hash said. I inhaled, I could tell it was pot.

"Breezy, let me introduce you to our favorite pothead, Koi," he smiled and patted Koi's shoulder.

"Hi Koi," I said, he waved with the goofiest face. He was lit.

After a few joints had been passed, we were all getting high.

"So what do you guys do?" I asked.

"Well," Koi said with low eyes. "Some people bake cakes and pies, we bake ourselves," laughs rose up from the small group of people. I even found myself getting a little giggly. "Oh! This is my favorite song, sh." He turned up the music, Bob Marley's Buffalo Soldier.

"Buffalo Soldier," I swayed to the music. "Dreadlock rasta."
