"There's three in here," Jack said as he walked back into the living room. "I don't really know how this whole thing works," he shrugged with a week smile. I stand up and take the box from him.
"Thank you," I say. He lifts my chin, like he always does so smoothly, and looks me in the eyes.
"Hey, whatever happens, I'm here." He hugs me tightly and kisses my head. I pull away and walk to the bathroom. I was scared. What if I was pregnant? I didn't wanna put Jack through all my emotional, pregnant woman mood swings. I didn't want him to worry so much.
I read the directions carefully and did what they said to do.
Okay, I'm done. I have to wait fifteen minutes, so I walk out to the living room. "Well?" he asks.
"I have to wait fifteen minutes," I say. "Can I use your phone as a timer?" He nods and hands it to me. We sit down and wait. "Jack," I say quietly. "If I do have a baby-"
"I'll be by your side."
"Jack," I sigh. "I don't want to put you through that. If I have a baby I can go live with my dad-"
"No!" He looked hurt. "Alexis, I want to help you. I want to have a family with you one day, and maybe one day will come a little bit sooner, but I don't care. I want to raise kids with you. I want to father them, and be able to look at them every day and think, 'look at these beautiful babies, that my beautiful wife birthed'."
My eyes widened, "wife?"
"Well- yeah," he smiled at me. "I want to marry you one day, too." I stared at him happily. He grabs my hand and holds it, "I mean, maybe not right now, unless you have a baby. But if you don't, I think we should give it a little more time."
"Yeah," I agreed. His phone went off and he looked at me, I could see the fear in his eyes. I took a deep breath and walked to the bathroom.
Negative. NEGATIVE. It was negative, thank you Jesus.
"Jack!" I ran back into the living room and threw myself into his arms and sat on his lap. "I'm not pregnant," I cried tears of joy.
"I told you not to worry," he smiled as he rubbed my back. We cuddled for a while as we watched tv. I listened to his steady heartbeat, and then he sighed. I looked up at him.
"What?" I ask.
"I don't know, I kinda almost wanted you to be pregnant, I guess," he shrugged and I stared at him confused. "Just the thought of raising a family with you makes me happy," he smiles at the ceiling. "That's the future I want."
I stared at him, smiling. "So much for no strings attached," I laughed and he started chuckling.
"Wow, seems like so long ago," he furrows his brows. "Almost six months."
"It's been the best six months I've ever had," I smiled. "Like a romantic vacation."
"A lot of vacations," he laughs but suddenly kisses me. I go along with it and our lips move together. "I love you," he whispers into my ear. I look deeply into his eyes and smile. I shift around on the couch and feel something in my pocket. I reach back and pull out a small bag of weed. I begin to giggle and he looks at the bag, confused as ever.
"I forgot that I had this," I laughed. "Koi gave it to me as a Christmas present, I guess I never took it out of my pocket."
"You little pot head," he laughs. "C'mon, we can roll em up," he stood up and walked to the kitchen. "I kept a stash of this stuff in here, in case I ever wanted some brownies," he winked. I handed him the bag of weed and watched him roll the joints. "Stick out your tongue," he says. I stick out my tongue and lick the blunt he had rolled. I stared at him as I did that and smirked once I was finished. I leaned across the counter and pulled him in for a kiss. I watched him roll a few more, I had no idea he smoked weed. Never told me. "Five good?" I nod.
We sit on the couch and he lights one up for himself, and I do the same for me. He grabbed a bottle from under the table.
"When you were gone, this is what I used to cope with the sadness," he opened it and took a swig. He handed it to me and I tried some, it was different, not something I loved. I crawl into his lap and kiss him. He looked at me and groaned. "Damn I wanna fuck you."
