Stubborn Love

chapter: 6

   I woke up the next morning and decided it would be a lazy day. When I looked outside my window I saw it was raining. I cant expect anything different though because it usually rains in March in Vancouver. I went to my bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth. I threw my hair into a messy bun and went to my room to change. I didn't put any make-up on because I decided it would be a lazy day since it was raining out.

   I decided to put on black leggings with a long bagging grey knit sweater and black grey uggs. When I was dressed I went into James' room and he was lying awake in his crib. When I walked in he was looking up at me with the cutest look on his face. His eyes were open really wide and his mouth was open in an 'o' shape. He looked adorable.

   I grabbed him from his crib and changed his diaper. I then changed him into a white and blue onzie with a matching hat. After we were both ready for our mommy son lazy day we went downstairs. There was a note on the counter saying that everyone was going to be gone for the day. As I was making James' bottle I felt his forehead to see if his fever was gone. Unfortunately it wasn't and his head was burning up again.

   When his bottle was done making I gave it to him and he drank it quickly as usual. After putting James in his playpen and putting his bottle away I went to the cupboard to get his medicine. I grabbed the bottle and stuck the syringe in it and nothing came out. I tipped the bottle only to find it empty. "Damn it, I guess we are going to the store James," I said walking over to get him ready to leave. The reply I got was a giggle.

   When I got to the store I had to lug James' car seat out of the car because he fell asleep. I hate going shopping when he is asleep because it's always loud in the store and he wakes up easily and crankily. Once I was in the store I immediately went to the medicine isle. While I was looking for the proper medicine, a very attractive guy came and stood beside me looking for medicine as well, obliviously.

   He had blonde slightly brown hair that was styled in a quiff. His eyes were blue and his skin was slightly pale, but not a normal pale a sickly pale. So I'm assuming he is sick. I looked away from him and picked up the medicine for James. When I was going to walk away the attractive guy said, "Are you buying that for your little brother?" He was looking at James when he said that. "Oh no I'm not, I'm getting it for him but he isn't my brother he is my son," I explained to him. I immediately regretted telling him I had a kid right away because that usually scares guys off.

   "Oh that's cool, he is super cute by the way," he replied to me. By the way he talks I'm guessing he is gay because no straight guy talks like that. "Oh thank you," I responded. "No problem, I'm Zak by the way," he said to me. "Nice to meet you Zak, I'm Grace." "Nice meeting you too. So Grace do you know what medicine I should take for a fever and cold. I know your not a doctor but since you're a mom you might know," he said to me with a smile. "Yah take this," I said handing him a bottle of cold medicine. "Thanks, I really would like to get to know you better. I have a feeling we would be great friends. Although I think we should wait till I'm no longer sick," he said to me.

   "Oh yeah that would be cool, we probably should switch numbers to keep in contact then," I said. "Yah we should," he said handing me his phone. I did the same and we programmed our numbers into each others phones. After handing them back we said our goodbyes then went our separate ways.

   When I got home I gave James his medicine and his fever started getting better quickly. I hadn't eaten any food yet so I put James in his playpen to make myself food. I decided on making French toast, so I got to work quickly. I had learned to do things fast because its better to get things done while James is calm because it is really hard doing things when he fusses.

   When I was done cooking and eating I cleaned up quickly. After I was done I picked James up and settled onto the couch with the remote and a blanket. It was still raining outside so I was going to watch movies on Netflix. I watched movies all day. I texted Zak a lot while doing so and we know a lot about each other now. He was right we are going to be good friends even though we have only texted and talked in person for like five minutes.

   Eventually it had gotten late and James was starting to fuss so I stopped with the movies. I gave him a bottle before going upstairs to get him ready for bed. He fell asleep quickly after I sang to him. I always do that when I want him to fall asleep fast. After he was sleeping I went to my room and got ready for bed. I showered quickly before changing into my pajamas. I got in bed and surfed the internet for a little while on my laptop before I settled in bed and went to sleep for the night.

Sorry for the short update and for it taking a while. Hopefully the next chapter will be up quicker and it will be longer.
