Jade's POV
I sigh, stretching as I wake up. I check my phone and see the date. February 12th. It had been fifteen years since Ed and Taylor adopted me. Fifteen years ago, my story as Jade Sheeran had started. So much had happened in those fifteen years. I close my eyes, imaging my first year or two with my adopted parents. I remember all the problems I overcame in those years. How before them, I had never known love. I think about my first true love, my first heartbreak. I grimace at the more gruesome parts of my past. I smile at the career and loving fans that I gained from being able to put my life into words. I think about how I used to be a girl that listened to my parents on the radio and now I was their daughter and performing songs with them. Finally, I think about how I met my Prince Charming. How I first saw the blue eyes of my now husband. I open my phone to text my parents.
Thank you so much for adopting me on this day fifteen years ago. I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't been there for me. I love you to the moon and back.
I send it to both my parents before stretching and getting up. I slip into my slippers and slowly head down the stairs.
I pause, hearing the rustling below me. I giggle to myself as I hear my husband whisper "Quiet!" and smile wider when I hear the little laugh in reply. Continuing to walk, I listen for clues as to what is going on. Finally I reach the kitchen and as I turn the corner, I see my parents, husband and darling little girls. I run to my parents and hug them before kissing Tristan. I grab little Charlie, named after my old friend Charlotte from the orphanage, from her high chair and hug the little brown hair, blue eyed girl hugging my legs. Sweet Skylar clung to my legs before I picked her up to join her sister. Soon after I picked her up, she wiggled down and I set her and Charlie on the floor to play. I then hug Abi before finally asking what this is all about. "It's your 15th adoption anniversary of course!" My mom says. I hug her tightly. "I can't believe it was fifteen years ago that I heard my song being played upstairs in an orphanage causing me to check it out. I can't believe that fate brought us together and made each of our lives better." My mom says and I just hug her tighter. Dad joins in and we just stand there, all reminiscing. "Sorry to breakup the hug fest, but the pancakes are getting a little cold." Tristan calls out. I turn and get a whiff of the chocolate chip pancakes and sprint over to the plate. I down three before looking up to see everyone laughing at me. "Some things never change" Dad whispers to Mum. I glare at them before eating two more. After I ate my share, probably more than my share, I make sure Sky and Charlie are fed and then I get us all dressed for the day.
"I'm going to show y'all somewhere very special today." I tell them. I load them into the car and my whole family takes a trip down memory lane. I drive down a very familiar road, even after all these years. I stop and gaze at the building in front of me. I get out and Taylor joins me. She pulls me into a hug, staring at the building in front of us. "This is where it all began." She whispers. Dad come up behind us, wrapping his arms around the two of us. I lean into him as I think about this place and how different it was so many years ago. I stare at the place where my life as Jade Sheeran started. The place where I though I would never know love. I look away from the orphanage that was my home, so many years ago. I look at my family. My parents and sister. My husband and two baby girls. I look at them all and realize that all the worries I had in that old building never were true. Because I finally know love.
